what you did is correct. the police will take the dog to the animal shelter or a vet to see if it has a chip in it. from there the family will be contacted. either way the puppy will be reunited with the family.
good job!!!

You did the right thing. The only other option you would have had is if your parents would let you keep him and post signs or gone through the neighborhood asking if they were missing a dog. At least the animal control can scan it for a microchip and see if they can find the owners. Most people will look at shelters first for their dogs and around their neighborhood. If someone comes by looking for him tell them that the shelter has it. And even if the owners dont find it it is youg enough it will probably be put up for adoption (after the allotted time for his owners to claim him). You did good not letting him run loose. He could have been hit by a car or attacked by another dog if you left him alone. At least this way you know he is in a safe place.

Yes, you did the right thing.
Police will take the puppy to the shelter where it can be checked for a microchip that may help identify its owner. Even if the dog is not microchipped, there is a good chance that its owner will be found. Most owners will call the local shelter with the lost dog's description because it's the most likely place for the dog to turn up. Most shelters keep a binder with lost dog posters that they can check to see whether this dog has already been reported lost, too.

I'm sure the police took the dog to an animal shelter. If the dog was wearing no collar with an address, what else could you have done? You didn't know where the owners lived. The owners can go to the animal shelter and look for their dog. Also, if they put out flyers you can call them and let them know where their dog is.

You did the right thing. Keep your eyes open for lost dog signs and let the owners know where to look if they ever contact you.
I would keep an eye on the pup and ask the shelter that he is at to contact you before putting him to sleep. You could also tell people you know who are looking for a dog to check him out at the shelter.
The police will take him to the local shelter who will hold him for around 3 days to look for an owner if not usually they will try to adopt him out if he is healthy.
He stand the best chance of finding his family at the place they should be looking.

I think that you did the right thing. You calling the police could help to find the owners of the dog. If the police/ animal shelter can't find the owners, then maybe they will allow the dog to be adopted out to a proper family that will take care of it.

Most shelters have a certain time limit on holding animals, giving the owners plenty of time to find them.
Sure it's nice to keep the animal until the people are found, but many times that's not feasible. That's why the shelter is there.
Plus my feelings are if you don't have a tag on the dog with your phone number and the dog gets away, you deserve to have to pay to get your dog back.

the police will probably put the puppy in the right hands. they will probably try to find the owner, and if no ones claims him/her than it will probably go up for adoption in a shelter or something.
Dont feel bad, if you couldnt keep it than u did all you could. It was great that you showed it kindness my giving it food and water
Im sure everything will work out. : )

Don't worry. It's likely the police took the dog to an animal shelter where his/her owner is probably going to go to look for it.
