Use friends -- one to video tape, another for still shots. This would be absolutely the cheapest way to go (it could be their wedding gift to you).

Buy about two dozen disposable cameras from Costco or Sam's Club. Put one or two on each table at the reception. Tell everyone to take as many pictures as they want. Collect all the cameras at the end of the night and have them developed. A friend of mine did this at his wedding, some of the pictures were great and really caught the moment. They did have a professional photographer too, something about the bride wanting professional picture to mark the special occasion...blah, blah, blah.

What you could do is ask around. Check out the Chamber of Commerce in Holland, MI. They may be able to recommend you to some photographers. Then call, find out what they charge.

i do not live in your area, nor know of any photographers in that area, but ive seen everyone sayig use friends, family or the guests, to capture your day. i dont advise you to do that. you should only have someone do it who has experience in photography and has done weddings before. yes, photography is pricey, but you'll look back 20 yrs. from now and thank yourself. trust me i know weddings are expensive, my hubby and i paid for ours by ourselves last year. we found an awesome wedding photographer. we paid $2500 for her and had her all day plus engagement photos, and i kept all the proofs. it was more than we wanted to pay, but so worth it. im sure there are photographers who would do it for less. just figure out your budget for photographers and ask around. also visit some bridal fairs. you can usually get cheaper prices there since they want your business. i had a friend who used someone that was not a wedding photographer and was cheaper and she was not happy with the results. good luck, keep looking and there will be someone out there in your price range. just dont count on your guests family or fiends. you may regret it later.

I am in the same boat. However, I have heard that you should call your local newspaper and ask to speak to their photographers, because many of them do it on the side. This is what I plan on doing, but my wedding isn't for over a year so I haven't actually tried it yet. Hope this helps!

here's a fun idea. Give guests those disposable cameras. Then, collect them all after the wedding and reception and get them developped. See the fun pictures your friends took! As for a professional person, I don't know. Sorry.

Find a kid on the street, hand them your camera, and tell him you'll give them a piece of bubble gum.
Seriously, if you want to take the lowest bid on your wedding, the quality of the pictures are going to suffer. Do you really want to do that?

Depending on the size of your wedding and the date I may be able to help you out. I shoot weddings on the side and am somewhat familiar with Holland.
E-mail me at PhotoChickML@yahoo.com and we can discuss the details.

Why don't you just invest in a good Digital SLR like the Olympus Evolt E500 and have someone with a little photography experience do it for you.
