Yep, Christian girl in UK married her first cousin from USA. I know them both because I was at their wedding. They can't have children, though, both of their babies died when they're still infant. Now they adopted a child.

Hello there, you ask a silly question! Yes ANYONE Can marry their 1st Cousin! My mates parents are 1st cousins & they married each other. Think about it your cousin has only 1 quarter of their genes that are the same as you & there is two new blood lines in that gene pool which came from either the aunt or uncle who are only related to your family through marrage

It is legal to marry your first cousin because Henry VIII changed the law
However it is not advisable to have children because it is genetically too close & the offspring could have defects
It is illegal to marry your second cousin for that reason - that it is too close
It is legal to marry your third cousin because that is far enough apart for reproduction

According to British law (and, presumably, other Western countries'), first cousins are the closest relations that can legally marry-nothing to do with religion. I guess they figure that one sixteenth of shared genetic material is fine. for the same reason, it is completely legal for step-brothers and sisters to marry, as they have no shared genetic material-this is far rarer, though, owing to the closeness of the relationship, being brought up together.

in the UK you are allowed to marry your first cousin.
it's odd, but youa re allowed to, i had this conversation just the other day, i was quite shocked too, as your cousin isnt very far removed from you is it ? you dads brothers kid for example.
odd. but having said that, at least at the wedding you would save money on the family invites
!!

Well all that I can say is that the bible... doesn't say a lot on "Cousin Marriage" !
Anyway, the most important will be found, I guess, in LEVITICUS 18, which tells you all the relation ship you should not have with your relatives, but nothing about cousins !

I'm not sure if that's a Christian thing. The last time I checked, it was U.S. law that you can't marry a first or second cousin.

I knew of a Hindu who married his cousin. Apparently that's common too.

We aren't supposed to marry a cousin according to the Bible but it isn't law of the land in Britain. I most defiantly think this is because of the genetic pool becoming less dense as before the law of moses when the genetic pool was more dense this was allowed.

Apart from any holy book, it just makes good sense not to.

Muslims also strap bombs to their bodies and blow people up in the name of God.

I am thinking there have to be Christians somewhere in Kentucky or Tennesee that have married a cousin.....
