So, you seem to be saying that the planet's water is disappearing. Where? Is it being shipped off planet somewhere?

There is plenty of water and there will be plenty of it until the planet is destroyed.

"the forrests which produce the bulk of the water are deminishing to make way for agriculture or expanding populations ,it s a myth that oceans produce most of the rain ,forrests do"

How, pray tell?

This is simple ignorance of ecology. sorry, but it is. There is as much water now as there was when we began this strange journey 4 500 000 000 years ago. water is one of those substances which can be neither created nor destroyed. Sure it can be polluted, but it's gunna take an awfully long time before we stuff it all!

"......locked in ice ans a lot of this is now running into the seas with the melting poles and Glaziers ,and becomes lost forever."

once again, not true. It cannot be "lost forever"....

Water falls on land as rain. what doesn't filter thorough to the subterranean (note spelling!) aquifers makes it's way to the coast and oceans. The water in our oceans undergoes a process called evaporation and gets into the sky to form clouds. the same clouds travel back over the land which is usually warmer than the ocean where they lose their precious cargo as rain.....

"Environmentalists who put out reports ,tend to work for governments ,and they lie ,because change means money and panic destroys the governments control."

WHAT!!!! no...sorry...again, ignorance. I am an "environmentalist". I do not work for the government and nor do most self - respecting Greenies. We do NOT lie. Those that work for the Government do not lie either. The fact is that if a report is published which is contrary to government opinion, they do not release it, or they release one which counters the statements of the first.

"Change means money"??? The opposite is true. The Status Quo is making plenty of money, thank you very much!!! Ask ANY petrochemical executive!!! Change in terms of trying to fix this poor planet's woes is going to cost everyone, and cost a LOT.

You offer a lot of negatives, Byderule. Incorrect scary negatives. Go and have another look at Lester's book and see if you can see the positives in it. There are PLENTY of things that EVERYONE can do to fix the mess - but we have to take responsibility, NOW. Like you say, we can stick our heads in the sand...or sort it out.

There is a better way. Be positive. Change your own habits and others will follow your lead. DON'T be a doomsayer because people will turn off straight away. People want to hear GOOD news because we're constantly bombarded with the crap.

Think Globally, Act Locally.

when the Earth has no more drinking water all countries and all people will be the loosers ,

then death ,

the last country with drinking water will be full with the rich people from all over the world ,who are killing each other for the last water on earth

this is a no win situation

93% of the earths water is salt
of the 7% remaining sweet water .75% was locked in ice ans a lot of this is now running into the seas with the melting poles and Glaziers ,and becomes lost forever.
0.8 % is on the land ,in deep carbon aquifiers and agriculture is pumping them ,these do not get refilled and the cavities created below cause mayor sink holes ,some of them now filling up with sewage (which is impossible to remove )

the aquifiers (subteraneum water )close to the surface is mdry for agricultureor/and poluted with agro chemicals .

mountain snow and ice ,which before suplied water all year around now is melting ,runs into the rivers and goes out to sea to become salt water.

many of the lakes and rivers that used to be drinking water are becoming contaminated by civilization.

the forrests which produce the bulk of the water are deminishing to make way for agriculture or expanding populations ,it s a myth that oceans produce most of the rain ,forrests do

people do not realise the danger of total planetary desertification

desserts are like fires ,they consume growth on the edges with the shimmiring heat ,the Sahara is growing by 7 miles a year ,and in china two mayor deserts are converging.

your question exposes an uncomfortable posibility for our immediate future
but not enough people take it seriously.or even believe it

Environmentalists who put out reports ,tend to work for governments ,and they lie ,because change means money and panic destroys the governments control.

one can put ones head in the sand only for so long ,untill one realises that ones a*se is on fire

Actually only a very small percentage of the water consumed by industrial society is used for drinking ,cooking and direct human consumption. More than 75% of our typical home's water bill goes to flush the toilet!

In addition to sanitation, water for agriculture, as a raw material for industrial processes and similar account for most of the water actually used. Only small savings in these areas, would free more more 'drinking' water than anybody could drink.

Of course this does not in any way preclude possible future water confllicts. The 'winner' of any such conflict will be those which have rich water resources, the political and social will to preserve that resource into the future, and the military capacity to defend it.

Another possible 'winner' route is discovery of a technology to produce a 'new' water source such as a cheap method of desalination or radically new method of water purification. Such a nation could greatly increase it's own effective water resources while 'buying' all the water they need marketing the technology.

Earth will ALWAYS have drinking water, because as long as there is an ocean there will be evaporation and rain, and rain water is drinkable.

People who say we are running out of water do not mean that there is less water. They mean that there are more people, and we may soon have so many that there is no longer enough water for everyone. In that case, the winner is the strongest military power who will keep whatever water sources they need under their own control and let the rest of the world make do with whatever other sources are left.

It isn't a lack of water problem, it is an overpopulation problem.

Antarctica has 90% of the worlds fresh water.

Global warming is just part of the master plan of the United States to quench the thirst of the world.

Whichever country best utilizes desalination. Even if it stops raining, it's gonna take a loooooonnnggg time before the oceans go away, so as long as we can take the salt out, we should be okay.

Canada has the largest fresh water reserves on the planet.
But of course, the US might try to steal it...
