Men are always claiming that they want a beautiful, intelligent woman; are they just saying it to keep from looking shallow? If they really do want an intelligent woman, do they want her to be smarter than they are? Or perhaps a little less intelligent, so that they can still maintain control?

My wife has a Master's in Hydrogeology, and I....don't. Needless to say, she is smarter than me, and I probably wouldn't have fallen for her if she wasn't. So, the answer to your question is yes, we are attracted to intelligence.

I am from a small town and now live in a city. I've seen my not so smart buddies from back home VERY intimidated by smart women...so much so that I saw a marriage end because of it. By the same token, I am very well read, college educated, and I can't STAND dumb girls. Now, if a girl had some learnin on me and talked down to me, that is never ok. As it is now, my fiance is a mathmatical wiz. She makes a lot of money, and I'm fine with this. She can't spell, read quickly, and doesn't have a ton of real world common sense. But the bottom line is that I want a smart girl. Someone who can hold up her end of the conversation and doesn't want to talk about designer handbags and such. Most guys are very afraid of smart girls though. Do not act less intelligent than you are to apease anyone.

It depends on what age the guy is. If it's a teenage guy, under 17, he is more likely not to care about if the girl is intelligent or not. For men 18+, from the guys that I've spoken to, they do want a woman who is intelligent. They don't want someone who is only beautiful, cause you can't have a conversation with beauty.

What's the problem? Are you a beautiful & intelligent girl that gets no guys?
I think they kinda wanna look better. I just don't want her to be a complete idiot, but if i can at least have a normal conversation with her, it should be ok. I'm not looking for a girl to do my homework (although it'd be kinda cool), just someone fun that I can always enjoy my time with.

I live in Italy. Well, some Italian men like black women but not all. It's more of an individual preference rather than a race thing. Italians date and marry women from all sorts of countries, not only Ethiopia and not only African countries.

I would definitely rather be with someone who is intelligent. Its much easier to carry on a conversation and I won't feel like I have to "dumb down" what I am saying.
I want a beautiful intelligent and honest trustworthy woman. My last two relationships I felt like I was with someone fun that I loved but they both cheated on me.
To me loyalty and trustworthyness is key but definitely intelligence would be nice.

Men don't want complete idiots. They would get bored too easily....men's attention spans are so short that if a woman was stupid, he would lose interest. I'm sure there are some men that date idiots, but I haven't seen one man get married to one!
Just like women, do women want unintelligent men? You would get so bored because you would always be explaining things and never be able to have a good conversation! Womens attention spans are short too....

and good personality
at first i get crushes baised on looks but i get over it cuz they totlally different race and i not in league with em cuz i am not cool
