We are starting a painting project in my son's room. All the trim throughout the home is white (doors too). We have decided to leave it that way and not paint the trim or the doors. However, we are adding in a chair rail and have planned to paint it a different color...The room will be green above the rail//chocolate below rail and the rail we are planning on painting a color something like a tourquois....while still leaving the trim and doors white. Advice, comments? Thanks Tons! : )

Yes, you can do that. It sounds like it will tie in to your color scheme for the room.

Painting the chair rail a different color than the walls or white to match the rest of the trim will tend to accentuate the chair rail and make it stand out. If you can live with that, then by all means paint it whatever color suits you.

hi, i'm a professional painter (Masterpiece portray and residing house progression, Philadelphia, PA), and that i've got been portray via fact that i became a splash boy...as of yet, i've got no longer seen 2 hues on a wall that seem solid while the darker color is going on ideal. Darker hues on ideal provide the room a taller seem, just about unnaturally, and in assessment, the sunshine color on ideal makes the room seem real to that is style. while portray 2 hues that regulate dramatically in color, mutually with purple and white, that effect is bigger via distance on the colour spectrum. in case you nevertheless choose the purple on ideal, you could shrink the effects of the above with the aid of having a bigger section on the backside reserved for the white. as an occasion, in the adventure that your chair rail or border is at 36" from the floor, flow it as much as 40 two" or bigger to furnish extra section to paint with white. this might visually develop the top of the room and seem a splash extra organic. solid luck, and allow me understand the way it seems.
