The airbag light came on and the passenger airbag light is now showing 'off' when a passenger is in the car.

My VW is currently at the dealer's shop but my question is, has anyone else experienced this with their '06 New Beetle.

Before the mechanic took a look at it he immediately suggested it was my fault probably from hitting a wire while vacuuming. (I haven't vacuumed in a while haha!) Is there some random, dangling wire? Is this a possible lemon or is this an ongoing problem with New Beetles? My car also was smelling of sulfur-catalytic converter-recently as well.

I can't find anything about this problem on the NTSA website.

I HAVE AN '01 AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. BUT THE IDEA THAT THE DEALER WOULD SUGGEST IT'S YOUR FAULT IS OUTRAGEOUS! AIR BAGS ARE MUCH TOO IMPORTANT TO BE THAT VULNERABLE TO CASUAL CONTACT. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DON'T ACCEPT ANY EXCUSES! TRY ANOTHER DEALER...EVEN IF IT'S JUST TO DOUBLE CHECK THAT THE WORK WAS DONE RIGHT.

in no way have, in no way will very own a VW, yet call the dealership and spot if VW has a bear in mind on that kind vehicle for this concern. (some circumstances they are going to do what's called a "Silent bear in mind", that's whilst they gained't admit something, yet could desire to you ***** approximately something, they are going to restoration it). in the event that they did, take it to the broking and have them shelter it. in the event that they did no longer, then you definately could advance a stink approximately it, that's a pretend installation because of the fact of a sensor that's too gentle, or this is defective from the maker. Notify VW workplace and ***** approximately it. A blown tire, be it and actually BLOW OUT or basically a pop blow out shouldn't installation the any of the airbags.

The passenger seat has a weight sensor for child safety reasons.

there is a pods reflash for this, depending on the dtc. they have had issue with the front crash sensors reading wrong, too. pods stands for... well, i forgot, but it has to do with the passenger airbag/seat sensor system.
