I'm a college student with no money in desperate need of a haircut. No one feels like helping me out aside from lending me their clippers. All I want to do is give myself a #3 buzz. Think I can manage it on my own?

I do it all the time. I use a clipper with a short extension so I do not shave my head bald. Then I go around the sides, and the back with my head bent over so shavings will not fall into my shirt or skin. Always shave off less to begin with, go back & look in a mirror/ double mirror for back. If you want it even & short you can do this all around your head.
If you have had training cutting hair, you can use a mirror to see what you are doing, 2 mirrors to see your back of head.
I would not do any of this unless you feel confident. I have watched many people cut hair and told myself, I can do that. I do not cut the middle part of my hair though, I leave that for the Barber, although, in a pinch, I would do it.
Also, the first time I did clipper my hair, I did not hold the clipper correctly and shaved off too much of my sideburns and eyebrows. Take your time and check the mirror often. If you mess up, make the other side look the same, or get a friend to even it out for you where you cannot see the back of your head.

Just give it a try and if it doesn`t turn out the way you would have liked it to, then spare some money & go get a haircut from a profesional. Good Luck (:

Yeah you can manage it, or find a local salon that will do it for like 5 dollars, there are actual places like that out there. Or I can cut it for you! I do my own hair, and I am constantly getting comments on it!

ooh... i wouldn't risk it... if this is your first time, chances are it won't turn out good. and haircuts are something you don't want to mess up. i say look for a salon that gives $5 haircuts. hopefully you wont have TOO much trouble coming up with that amount...good luck.
