The only thing that prevents a hangover is "NOT DRINKING". However, with that said.. it doesn't hurt! Your best bet is to drink a glass of water in between every alcoholic beverage. This will slow your ability to get drunk, because ultimately you will be drinking less alcohol. If you do manage to drink too much, attempts to soften the hangover can include the following remedies.
1. aspirin before bed
2. high dose of B-Complex vitamins
3. water (lots of it)
Bottoms up!

It can help with part of the hangover. A hangover is really a mild case of alcohol poisoning. Alcohol dehydrates the body. That dehydration is commmonly associated with a hangover. So in theory by rehydrating your body it will help you not feel so bad, but you might want to drink the water after you're done drinking. When I know I'm going to do it up good I put water or Gatordade by my bed.

No it doesn't...but it doesn't hurt either. Drinking alcohol dehydrates you and that's part of what you are feeling during a hangover. When I drink a lot, before I go to bed I drink a large glass of water and take a couple of aspirins. It doesn't completely stop a hangover but it makes the morning much easier to deal with.

Drinking water will not prevent a hangover. Eat or drink milk before drinking. Moderation and not switching types of drinks will also help.

In my experience it helps, but is not going to prevent a hangover if you drink too much.
As far as what can help, can be more water in the morning (which is only a little more effective than water before you drink), a little bit of ProGreens powder mixed with ice-cold water in the morning, or my favorite, getting drunk again when you wake up, or my favorite of favorites, a little ProGreens ice-water and then getting drunk again. And I remember Advil or something like that helped me once, too. Maybe Tylenol?, I don't remember, but you can try pills along those lines. Also, a friend of mine says those Chaser things they sell CVS-type stores actually work but I haven't bothered to try them yet.

I don't think it prevents a hangover but certainly helps because it keeps you from getting as dehydrated. Helps a lot with headaches. Drink alot after too.

a hangover essentially is dehydration of the brain so drinking water before hand won't hurt.... drinking a glass of water in between alcoholic drinks will be more effective ... and limiting your alcohol consumption is the best way period.

no, but if you take the chaser pills and drink water while you're drinking it does wonders, I like to drink a glass of water for every beer and I never have hangovers anymore.

Totally! Drink water all day and while you are drinking have some water. Take some headache medicine and eat something before you go to bed.
