My friend and I just watched this really weird movie, and in one scene this girl is taking a bath and a blow dryer is thrown into the water with her and she dies. We arent sure if this is just a special effects thing or true, so my question is: if you were taking a bath and a blow dryer fell into the water, would it really kill you?

Assuming the blow dryer is plugged in and that the tub is grounded, that's relatively achievable. Dry human epidermis is very proof against electrical energy yet moist epidermis is relatively conductive. a individual in an entire, grounded tub could habit electrical energy o.k.. because of the fact the tooth of the tub isn't conductive, it the guy's foot have been in touch with the ring around the drain, or the faucet, the least complicated course for the electrical energy could be via the physique -- and it takes little or no present day to stop a coronary heart. acceptable suggestion. do no longer attempt it.

Electricity always has the potential to stop your heart if it passes through your heart. It is also possible that if it passes through your brain stem it could stop vital functions as well. GFCI outlets, breakers, and fuses are all protective devices that would reduce the risk of prolonged electrocution, but to pop any of these devices some electricity must be discharged, which could kill you. But if only the lower half of your body is submerged, or if the path of least resistance between the electrical source and the ground it is drawn to is not your body, but instead the water, then the chances of death are very slim.

I would say this is unlikely, out of 10 instances of electrical discharge from a blower with a person in the water, I would say perhaps one might result in death.

The current from the blow dryer will surge through the water and kill you. Yes, it can kill you.

Most modern bathrooms have GFCI outlets. They are there to prevent this from happening by cutting the power if a surge in electricity is detected.

With a standard outlet, there is definitely risk of serious injury or death (as the hair dryer label says).

A blowdryer without electricity will not kill you, but once it's plugged in, it would surely zap you to death, because the current is still coming through the wire, you will continue to fry...eventually killing you--the current holds because it's not a high enough voltage to throw you. Without being plugged in, it would probably ruin the dryer.

Try it. Just kidding. Dont know if it would kill you but you would get seriously injured. There are labels on the cord that state keep away from water, electric shock!

Yes it would kill you if the hair dryer was plugged in and in a non-safety outlet.

No. The dyer company knows that we are prone to do things which should not be done.but we do it so chances are that even if it is plugged in you won`t die because the resistance of the coil will prevent it so you might get a shock that all.

Yes, please don't try to see. A girl I went to school with had a son, when he was 6 she put him in the tub and said "don't get your hair wet or you will get spanked". So when he got his hair wet her got out of the tub, grabbed the blow dryer, climbed back into the tub and BOOM. She still blames herself to this day.
