I would say yes...sorry.

American Express is a multi-national corperation that has lawers everywhere. The good news, is that since it already went to a debt collector, the company itself might have already written you off as a bad creditor, making the collection agency work that much harder to get to you, any way they can, for as much as they can suck out of you.
You'll have to check the latest EC rulings on this part, but normally, if you can keep your head down for the next seven years (no paperwork, no paper trail, nothing involving you and $$ whatsoever), you got a chance at amnesty, and may be able to opperate normally again without fear of garnishing your wages.
