I'm a carp angler myself (Yorkshire) and do the odd bit of Piking ! Lamprey and Trout dead baits work well as do's a frost on a morning ! Give the fish time to turn the bait before you strike, don't hit it straight away, hope that helps ! Have a bloody good day ! Tight lines

I caught a Carp in Lake Paradise in Tifton, Georgia that weghed 36 lbs. We turned it loose because DNR put them in the lakes to keep the grass down.
It took me 30 minutes to land it on a 12 lb Trilene test Its' scales were the size of half dollars.

to put it quite simply same rods and line just go to tackle dealers and get large float (its more visual) couple sets snap tackle a gag long forceps glove and for bait mackerel tail or sprats better still catch some live bait and float it its real fun

Keep your fingers out of its mouth and please don't use a gag to get the hooks out, it's cruel. Use barbless hooks, they make the job of removing them easier.
The fish can go into shock easily, put it back as soon as possible.

Well, if you accidentally catch a carp, do not eat it!! That's just gross.
