It is almost impossible to tell unless we have a picture of your cat. Since you do not know the breed, I assume that you you did not get it from a breeder, and therefore do not know its lineage. It is most likely a domestic longhair or a domestic shorthair. The domestic breeds are a combination of breeds and are not purebred. Your vet may be able to tell you what breed of cat yours is if it not a domestic. I hope that you and your cat share a long, happy life together!!! :)

The breed, as previously stated, would be "Domestic Shorthair" if he/she is shorthaired, or "Domestic Longhair" if he/she is longhaired. This is what mixed cats that are not a specific breed (ie Siamese) are referred to as.

Tabby describes the pattern/coloration on the haircoat, but it is not an actual breed.

Orange tabby. Somone said females are rare, that's not true. She is probably thinking about calicoes and the fact that males are extremely rare in that breed. All calicoes are female.

Unless you have the pedigree for your cat, there's no real way to know its specific breed. Chances are good that it's simply a domestic shorthair or domestic longhair, as appropriate.

Now a days unless it is very obvious what the cats breed is, they classify them by domestic short hair or domestic long hair.

Most likely it is some type of mix. Unless you buy it directly from a breeder of a certain breed, you can bet you have some sort of mixed cat. Its unlikely that it is one type. Sorry.
