You need to do whatever makes you happy. If you marry the guy you are the one that will wake up with him everyday. So don't worry about what other people think. My mom hated it when I was a teenager and dated black guys she got over it after a while. And when I went places and people stared or rolled their eyes I would smile at them and give them something to look at. If like him and you are happy don't worry about everybody else. You are living you're life for you not anybody else. Good Luck Sweetie

It isn't wrong for two people who REALLY like each to date. It is wrong if either one is doing it for the "shock value". If it is more important to you to defy your parents than it is to date this guy then I say yes it is wrong. If you truly care about each other then there is nothing wrong with it at all.

I am appalled and yet not surprised to know that church going folk have little true love in their hearts for the other guy...rolling eyes in church when the black boyfirned shows up is an indicator of something far more sinister in the hearts of men!

Another thing though is that at 17 you are at the beginning of a long line of suitors...

No offense, but if the people around you can't look beyond a persons appearance then they need to be treated and not your relationship. It doesn't matter what color, culture or religion a person is the only thing that matters are the treasures that they hold inside. If your happy that's what counts and those that don't like it can go screw themselves :)

it truly is truly a question of selection and the media has no longer been very friendly portraying black women individuals easily, this it truly is comprehensible why the numerous races belive black women individuals to be unattractive. White is in proper now, yet what are you able to do besides exchange the ignorant perspectives that many have? no longer ALL men (white, black, and so on) think of black women individuals are gruesome-it truly is in simple terms that maximum men are ignorant approximately women individuals of coloration. it truly is their opinion on what they view is alluring. i comprehend somewhat some men of all races that have self belief black women individuals are alluring so-it truly is truly subjective. Oh properly.

GIRL, do not even worry!! I am white going out with a Hispanic guy and I get the SAME thing. I understand it is really hard when people don't approve, especially family and friends. What they need to realize is that it is ignorant to judge someone based on their skin color and love has no boundaries, including race.

Keep on doing what you like and you obviously like the guy...so BE with him!! Stand up for what you believe! God bless y'all and good luck with everything, I can totally relate! :)

if this guy is showing up for church, and your parents have a problem, they must have really big hang ups. there is nothing wrong with your relationship. just figure out if you can be strong enough to temper their attitude towards him.

i just wonder, is it really just cuz he's black, or are there other concerns? maybe if you discussed it with them to find the root of the discourse, you might find it to be something else. if it's race, that's just stupid. maybe they might know something you don't, do you have siblings or other people that may have said something. this might be something that needs to be brought out in the open just to set the record straight.

good luck

Alot of people don't approve of blacks and whites dating. Some even get married. My son had a black girlfriend at one time and I did not know about it. If one of my children were going to marry a black person then I would accept them into my family.

I think that people who see color are ignorant and I feel sorry for them. If you like each other, he treats you well, and you get along, then screw everyone else!
By the way, people are always going to tell you how hard it is on you. But it's not. My ex-fiance was black, we were together 9 years, and it was only as hard as we made it.

My sister dated a nice and educated black man. I had no problem with it. Then she dated a less than desirable baggy pants crotch grabbing ethnic black guy. He eventually beat her and took advantage of her. I bet they roll their eyes because they see problems in the future for you if you continue going for that type. Also there is a lot of prejudice people, especially black people who will give you problems, trust me on this one. Parents know this.
