NO, its not worth it to purchase this. go get a JL for 100 bucks, I have 2 13inch JL's and have had them for a while, and they are perfect, no distortion. those paper cones subs are a joke, if you turn them up they distort badly. IMAGINE THIS, a newspaper blowing in the wind. a scenario to try yourself is this. turn your house fan(if you have one) all the way up and then put a single sheet of newspaper infront of it and hold it there firmly. LISTEN to it, thats what your papercone sub will sound like.

Like the other guy stated, power acoustic is not a top brand, but lots of high end companys use paper coned subs. They use paper cones because its light weight, lighter the cone the faster response you will get out of the sub. Also they use the paper in layers so its made strong. Your best kind of sub is a sub made with a kevlar cone, very strong and light weight. Aluminum cones are also very good but you have to be very careful with them because they dent very easily. If your not looking at spending much money, go on ebay and look at the diamond audio d1 series, very good sound quality at a very affordable price. They will smoke any power acoustic sub and they cost right around the same.

Power Acousitc is not a top brand. Has nothing to do with paper cone or not.

Paper cones are still popular in many high end home speakers. They tend to sound smoother that the newer cone materials like, plastic/poly whatever, aluminum and such. Those materials will usually handle higher power, more excursion with less distortion. Car sound systems are usually built for higher volumes so that's why you find those materials in car audio....another thing is they will handle the high temps and sun light that we find in our cars. Paper will get brittle and fade faster.

paper will work but if you plan on doing serious playi7ng go with a sub that is made with the thin metal compounds they resonate better.
