My 11.5 month old puggle puppy still isnt potty trained! She was doing good but not anymore. She goes to the door sometimes but if we dont see her she'll run off and go the bathroom somewhere in the house. She doesnt whine or anything just stands at the door for about 15 seconds and then leaves. If shes not potty trained SOON we have to give her away. Were consistent with her but i dont know what else to do! i love her so much and dont want to give her away! Help me please!

have you taken the dog to the Vet yet to make sure it is not a physical problem? I would do an urine sample to make sure it is not a bladder infection before you assume that is a behavior problem. If everything comes back fine than you get into the problem solving of house training

When she goes in the house, is she going in the same couple of spots? If so this could mean she is picking up the scent there and thinks that's the right place to go. Clean those areas really well with a product that will neutralize the odor, and if at all possible, block her from that area for a few days. You don't need to block a whole room. Just putting a chair over the place where she went before should suffice. Also, next time she goes in the house use some paper towels to blot the urine (if she is doing #2 pick it up), and take the wet towels or pup outside, and put it wherever you want her to go. Then, when you know she needs to go take her to that area and try to get her to go. If she does, praise her wildly. Your description also sounds like she may be telling you she needs to go (stands at the door for 15 seconds), so you may just need to pay a little more attention to her, and let her out more often.

If you are unable to take her out you may want to consider a doggie door. This will enable her to go out when she needs to go. You can also train her to go potty on command so when you take her out she goes automatically. I would suggest using puppy pad as well for the times you know you can't get her out ontime and the clean up will be much easier.

Another thing you may want to consider is if she has a urinary tract infection. Have your vet check her for that because if she does have one that would be the reason she can't hold it for very long.

Good luck and I hope you find the answers you need.

okay this is what you do. get a bell put it on a string and hang it from the door. low enough so she can reach and smell it. you will need to put something on it to smell good like rub it lightly with peanut butter let her see it make it a big deal then take her outside and wait til she does something (she has to do something to get the point) then big praises, hoops and hollers she'll love it. contiue with the ring bell, take outside, praise, for a good solid day. you shouldn't have to continue to put anything on the bell this is just to let her know its there and she should like it. she will associate the bell with going outside and a treat. you should be able to catch her going to the door better this way. but remember if she goes to the door and you don't get there to let her out then its not her fault. also if she seems like she cant hold it long enough for you to get there then you need to buy a crate no bigger than her to be able to lie down in and have her stay in there for two to three hours at a time. this will teach her how to hold her potty better and keep from accidents happening. i promise this will work if you give it a shot. now go get that bell!

I agree, get a crate!! I was having the same problem with my puppy who is now 14 months, about 8 months ago I started cratin him when I couldnt watch him and at night, they eventually look at the crate like their den or safe place and will not soil their crate!!! When you let her out of the crate go immediatley outside and she will catch on very quick I promise

I tell this to everyone.....buy a crate. When you can't watch her, she is in the crate. At night, she is in the crate. You control when and where she goes. Take her out of the crate and outside every 2 hours, after napping, upon waking in the morning, after eating, and after playing. Go back to square one with her.

My puppy did the very same. I put her out every chance I got, whether she wanted to go or not. And then, I would only give her food twice a day and put her out within an hour of eating. It helped alot. Eventually, she just got used to it.

You need to spend more time training her. If you are letting her get out of sight and go potty then you aren't watching her close enough. Let her out even when you don't think she has to go then praise her to death when she does go.
