Stone patio in the German diplomatic consulate... no seriously it is a few miles beyond Arrochar, on the shores of Loch Long.
Ardgarten, has a tourist office and visitor centre, Tel. 702342, which is open daily April-October 1000-1700, till 1800 in July and August, and provides useful advice and information on hillwalking and wildlife, as well as organizing various activities.
This 17-mile loch cuts north into the 'Arrochar Alps' and although it is on an A-road, it was very narrow, twisty and full of potholes – not recommended motorbike after a whisky distellery tour the day before.

West bank of Loch Long, on the A82 (before it turns inland to start the climb to "Rest and Be Thankful"), about three miles south west of Arrochar. Ardgarten is about 40 miles from Glasgow.
