I believe from the leafy top that you never see, when its flowers bloom. The carrot that we eat is just the root of a plant.

Don't rightly know but that is and excellent question, I wish I knew never gave that one much thought.Carrot seeds huh....well first we have to look at the carrot plant and decide what part of it we eat. If you said the root you were right. The green tops that grow on top are the vegetative part. Just like other plants the carrot plant wants to reproduce or make more carrot plants. If you leave a carrot grow (that is you don't pull it up and its delicious orange root) you will eventually see that many little flowers form on the top green part and when the bees pollinate these flowers seeds will form. You can then save these seeds until next spring and plant more carrots....Enjoy your carrots they have lots of good stuff in them....Mr. M

I went and found you what I could hope this helps a little.

lol, verry funny question!!!
The carrots you buy from the marketplace are actually the root of the carrot plant. In order to make seeds, the carrot has to remain in the ground for another year (or replanted), then the plant will grow a stick with seeds on top.
