how was it a worthy sacrafice? think about it, an immortal (a being who cant die), comes to earth and "dies" only to return to his immortal self. how is that any great feat?
its not like god had anything to lose...

if i couldnt die, id come back to earth just to pretend to die. at least it'd give me something to do with my eternal existance.

It's no sacrifice at all.
A human taking a bullet for another person? That's a sacrifice.
God/Jesus playing dead for a few days? That's theater.

Our Lord's sacrifice was indeed a very worthy one, for only He (God incarnate) (sinless man)was capable of such a tremendous heroic feat. It true that Jesus had the power the lay down His life when he chose, but He chose the way of the cross, as commanded by the Father, and not some natural death as an old man!
It was very important and very necessary that He be the 'sacrificial lamb' of God in order that all sins of mankind could be forgiven. This is why John the Baptist, when first seeing his cousin Jesus coming to be baptized in the Jordan river, say of Him,'Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world . .'
Jesus truely died, but not until he had suffered the cruel crucifixion on the cross and the payment for the sins of you and me and the rest of mankind was 'paid in full'!

Jesus wasn't completely immortal. He had to be born of flesh WITHOUT taking on the sin-curse placed upon man when Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden. The fact that Mary was a virgin coupled with the fact that this miracle came from being "overshadowed by the Holy Ghost" is what made Jesus worthy. He had to be made flesh WITHOUT the sin, so that He could live, act, react, and CHOOSE of His own free will to go through with it all. Remember the Garden of Gethsemane? Jesus was praying until His sweat became great drops of BLOOD, so deep and mortal was His NATURAL fear of death! But, God was able to comfort Him, even when he cried out about being forsaken on the Cross. He wasn't sorrowful to die, He only felt forsaken because He HAD to die! The humility and pain and suffering were the HUMAN attributes he exhibited and the miracles he imparted to people was his divine nature. This was what made Him worthy; the ability to be BOTH God and man, so that we could RIGHTLY have salvation and seek it ourselves instead of seeking atonement through a priest or sacrificial animal, or worse, having to sacrifice OURSELVES!

It is the greatest feat in the history of the world!!! No one else human or devine has ever done it!!! He showed us the way out or our sinful existance and into a new life with Him leading the way. He was the perfect sacrifice to take our sins away. He overcame death and hell to show us that He is the way, the truth, and the life. And no one can come unto the father but by through Him!! And we do this by following Acts 2:38 and getting rid or our sin!!

His Spirit came in a human body, just like us we have a spirit and a body and our spirit does not die either.

The thing is, is that Jesus did not sin, and as being perfect He was able under God's law to be offered as a sacrifice (the animal sacrifices were just a fore shadowing of what Him that was to come) to free us from our debt to sin.

Jesus could have sinned and when He died gone to Hell, but He did God's will and now He is our Savior!

intersting take, but Christ's sacrifice was more then just the actual Crucifixion. His suffering extended for several days before hand and began in the Garden of Gesemini (( spelling on that one)). Moreover, Chirst was not immortal. He was mortal at the time of his Crucifixion and his sacrifice was symbolic of the puhishment all Sinners must endur. He Suffered for the sins of all of man kind and that suffering was more then being nailed to a cross. Also Inorder for our salvation to be insured, someone greater then us who was devoid of sin had to be the one to suffer. Christ never sinned, not once, and so in the sacrifice of such a perfect being,he was able to take our sins upon himself inorder to allow us the opportunity of repentance and salvation. I would suggest going back to your bible and taking a deeper look.

i don't even know how you can say something like that.

Jesus was fully man and fully God. don't ask me how it works. anyway, he came to earth to show us that there was a way out of human suffering and pain, to a world beyond ours of splendor and majesty, if only we would choose to accept it.

He was the perfect sacrifice for all of humankind, and he died a horrible and painful death so that you would not have to go to hell. but i guess some people are too proud to accept that they are sinners accountable to the Most High God. And even too proud to accept His free gift of salvation. email me if you have any questions.

If Jesus wouldn't have died and rose again, then we couldn't go to Heaven, we'd all just go to Hell. I for one am thankful that God sent His perfect Son Jesus to die for us, I know I don't want to burn forever. But at the same time I know it was hard for God to watch His only Son die because of our sins. could you imagine?

Jesus was both man and God --- He did die. Then he conquered death!!!

And not only that, but he suffered.

And if it wasn't for him suffering, we'd be forever lost (without a chance!)

Man, you're just askin' to get preached to! Stop insulting God.

huh?! Ok, I'm trying to follow it.....Let's see if we can straighten this out. Jesus wasn't immortal, he was human. Yes He can die, because He did, then He rose from the dead. All for us. For you. If you were the only human, he would've died for you. So you can ask forgiveness of your sins and be with Him forever in heaven.

And that's the thanks He gets??!! You're ungrateful!!! Stop trying to make it all so complicated. It happened. Just believe it!
Jesus is a man

One of the lesser known biblical doctrines concerns Jesus as a man right now. Many do not know that right now, in heaven, Jesus is a man, though in a glorified body. Some object to this and cite various reasons for denying His present humanity. They are in error. Following is a biblical demonstration that Jesus is still both divine and human in nature.
It is biblically correct to say that Jesus is a man right now in heaven -- though a glorified man. But, it would wrong to say He was only a man. He is both divine and human in nature at the same time (Col. 2:9); He is both God and man, right now.
Furthermore, Jesus' humanity now is important for two reasons. First, this is what the Bible teaches. Second, as a man, Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. As a priest He forever intercedes for us.

"where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek, (Heb. 6:20).
"Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them," (Heb. 7:25).
In order to be a priest, Jesus has to be a man. A spirit cannot be a priest after the order of Melchizedek and if Jesus is not a man now, He could not hold His priesthood and He could not be forever interceding for us. Therefore, to deny Jesus' present humanity is to deny His priesthood and His intercession on our behalf. Without His intercession, we are lost.

Jesus died
There is no dispute that Jesus died on the cross --except for some non-Christian religions and various atheistic groups who deny the biblical record. Nevertheless, the scriptures teach us that Jesus died.

"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus," (1 Thess. 4:14).

Jesus rose from the dead physically
The bible teaches us that Jesus rose from the dead. Unfortunately, some Christians are not aware that Jesus actually rose from the dead in the same body He died in, though it was a glorified body. We see that Jesus prophesied the resurrection of His physical body in John 2:19-21 and fulfilled this in other verses:

"Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20The Jews therefore said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" 21But He was speaking of the temple of His body," (John 2:19-21).

After Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection he appeared to various people to demonstrate that He had risen physically.

He gave up His immortality when He became a man. Jesus did everything in His earthly ministry by faith. He had laid down His Deity. When He suffered, He felt every bit of it and He did it all for you and me.
