There is the mother-son dance and the bridal party dance. There is also the anniversary dance, which is very sweet. With this dance, all of the married couples dance. The DJ says "Everyone married less than a day, please step off of the dance floor." The DJ keeps going with that, until the last people on the dance floor is the oldest-married couple there.
There's also the dollar dance, where guests pay a dollar to dance with the bride and groom. However, this dance is more regional, and some see it as tacky. If you haven't already seen it, then chances are it's not appropriate for your region.
Remember that you don't have to have any of these dance, except for the first dance. All the others are optional, although it is a good idea to have the mother-son dance if you're having a father-daughter dance.

If you go to Martha Stewart's website, you can download a planner for your wedding. This planner has a page included that lists all the dances you traditionally find at a wedding. It has a space for you to write in the songs you want played for each dance or event so you can hand it to the DJ.
To find the planner on her page, click the link below and scroll down-almost to the bottom of the page. Look in the in the lower left corner (under the big image) and it says "Wedding Tools" and the link will let you download a planner. It takes seconds to download and is in Acrobat, so you can print it out!
This planner should help you out A TON! It did for me!
Congrats!

After those dances there is kind of a free for all I am not sure if there is a title for it but basically you start dancing with your groom and when someone wants to cut in they have to pay you. A lot of times it is just a dollar but I went to a wedding where they were pinning $5 $10 and $20 to her dress. I have seen males cutting in and putting the money in the brides garter yes while it was still on her leg. There was one opposite of that where the women cut in and put money in the brides garter that the groom was wearing on his arm. The money is then used for the honeymoon or donated to charity etc

As far as the wedding party goes, there is usually the bride and groom dance, then the father/daughter dance, mother/son dance and the entire wedding party dance. You pick the songs for each of these dances. Other than that, they can play throughout the night, the electric slide, the cha cha slide, the chicken dance, hokie pokie, call me sweetheart dance, the party train, the twist. That is some of the more popular ones.
