I need to know the unit of measure for resistance and the name of the meter used to measure resistance. This is an electronics question and I need it to study for a test so I would love the correct answers cause this test means alot to me.

Ohm and the units are

Ohm = Volts/Amps = (m^2*kg)/(s^2*A^2)

This would apply to situations where the "pre-packaged" or the availability of a measurement instrument restricts the use of the alternate system. For example: 1. In USA you buy milk by the gallon or 1/2 gallon. You can not buy a liter. The same applies to weight measurements. Everything in the USA is in pounds / ounces. 2. In Puerto Rico you can buy sand (used for construction) by the cubic meter. Trying to buy it by the cubic yard or cubic feet it buy encounter quite a resistance since they would not have the equipment to measure in that system. So, in reality everything comes down to availavility of equipment and off course training. Like in previous answer, in some places you can find that the people use both systems.

Unit of resistance is : Ohm
instrument is : Ohmmeter

Isn't this info in your book?

Addendum: The poster below me cited potentiometer and rheostat...these are variable resistances, NOT measuring instruments.

the unit of resistance is ohms.
the instrument used to measure it is potentiometer or rheostat (also measured by multimeter available in market)

mathematically resistance(r)=voltage(v)/urrent(i)
