Put in numerous bands, like bikers do. Then gel it.

me too! here's what i do - it keeps the waves in, and keeps tangles away. 1) Put a little bit - JUST A LITTLE or else it'll be oily - of conditioner in your hair. A good way to do this is to take a little in your hand, and spread it over your brush bristles so that they're lightly coated before brushing your hair. Brush the bottom first, then the top. 2) Just gather all your hair at the back of your neck - you don't have to bother brushing it over your part like you would for a higher ponytail - and band it off with an elastic. This should make a low, comfortable ponytail. 3) Put another elastic about two inches down the ponytail, and a third elastic two inches down from the second, and so on, until you reach the end of your hair. When you wake up in the morning, all you have to do is take out the elastics and quickly brush it, and you're all set!

You already asked this, and i gave you an answer of how to do it without braiding.
Let me explain my low ponytail thing further.
Put the bands on really tight. It should not come out!!!! Use several of them all down the ponytail.
I dont know what you want, if you dont want to put it up at all. There's no way to do it without a ponytail.

In the morning, if you still need help, use detangler spray or just a smoothing spray.

The night before:
Wash it with Mixed Chicks shampoo
Rinse
Condition with Mixed Chicks deep conditioner
Comb tangles out
Rinse
Apply Mixed Chicks Leave-in conditioner and air dry with hair in two pony tails.
Can you tell I like Mixed Chicks? The stuff works great. If you want to style during the day, follow the same steps but don't bother with the pony tails. Good luck.

French braid it and put a curler in the bottom. it keeps it from getting to tangled. If you don't want it to curly just braid it loosely.
