I know for a fact all the states in New England allow pitbulls, and Florida as well. As for the other states, I really haven't done much research on that. I'm not currently aware of any state in particular that they're banned from. However, in most states, if you rent, the owner of the place will require an extra security deposit or will charge a higher monthly rental fee, due to their reputation. And if you own a house, your insurance will be slightly higher due to the same fact. The only problem you may find is that some insurance companies and some renters will not insure or rent to people with pitbulls because of liability purposes. This doesn't mean that they're illegal by state, but that their personal or company preferances don't want to be liable. So, if you find a place you'd like to move, or are currently living somewhere and would like to purchase a pitbull, just do some calling around and find an insurance company that will accept you onto their plan. Or if you rent, well that's souly up to the owner. Best of luck!

Washington allows pit bulls and have several in shelters that are overlooked. And as far as a pit bull attacking the child in the car has anyone actually checked out how many other breeds have attacked children and adults. I read that more German Shepards and Akitas attack humans. Pit Bulls were misused as a fighting dog but that wasnt against humans most fighting dogs wouldndt attack humans they were trained to fight dogs. They are several breeds out there that can be trained to be aggresive. Pit bulls are actually called the nanny dog because they are so good with kids. It is always good to make sure any dog comes from good temperment blood lines and homes.

You can have one in WA State. Some lady was on tv today and she had a four month old baby pit bull and someone hung her pit from a tree. That is so sad, and whoever did it has some serious problems.

Please dont listen to these idots, pitbulls are not all the same. If you would like to own a pitbull then treat it with all the love you can give it.They do require in alot of states that they been in a home with a fenced yard. Please dont listen to what anyone says about how bad they are, trust me there not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. The dog from little rascals was a pitbull, do u really think they would let a pitbull around all those kids if it was so horrible.

i live in texas and they are welcome here but just becarefull not to let them out without a leash because the police are stupid and they will shoot. they shot a 5 week old puppy. a PUPPY!

so please again dont listen to these idiots. not all pitbulls are bad and alot of cities have no prblem with them.

and for the one that says his physcologist told him, um hello what does that tell you right there...... HE HAS ISSUES IF HE HAS TO SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST

What an oxmoron: Pitbulls & no problem in same sentence !
Those dog's are always a problem. My PRO dog trainer who happens to be a retired, Phd in human psychology says that Pit Bulls have no reason to be bred & that those who keep pit bulls need a Psychiatrist...

This is a big issue in the US. Pit Bulls are not banned in any states. Unfortunatley, California is trying to make it illegal to own one.

As of right now, they are not banned in ANY states.

there is no state that doesn't have some restrictions on "pit bulls" which could be any working breed with bulldog traits however most of these restrictions are only in urban areas.

Auctually Washington is pretty good about letting your pit bull around, I think the only restriction is that you need a fence around your yard.
