I have an older tv that does not have the yellow, white and red plug ins, how do i hook them through the vcr. And how do we figure out what channel? And what does the Vcr have to be on?

Although the connections are there, you CANNOT hook up your DVD player through your VCR.

WHY? Because of macrovision encoding. When playing movies on your DVD player the macrovision encoding will screw up the picture due to the ciruitry in the VCR. The manufacturers do this to prevent people from copying DVD's to tape.

What you need to do is get an RF modulator like someone else recommened. You would hook up your DVD player to it. The RF modulator would go between your tv and your VCR's RF cable.

Here is a web site that talks about it.

You would take the outbound RCA cables (Yellow/White/Red) from your DVD player, and place them into the "IN" RCA ports on the VCR.

Then you would take the VCR remote, and place the VCR into "INPUT", or "LINE" mode. If there isn't a button on the remote, channel down below Channel 2 on the VCR, it may put it into "LINE" mode.

If you have two sets of RCA "IN" ports on the VCR, cycle through them until you have the DVD picture.

Place your TV on Channel 3, or 4 to see your VCR, and you should see the DVD player.

You can not hook up a DVD player through a VCR. You need an RF modulator to change the signal from component to coax.
Best buy, radioshack, circuit city...all good options.

hooking though your vcr is not the best option - you might find the picture and sound very annoying - goto Walmart of BestBuy or Circuit City and purchase an RF modulator - it takes the yellow/red/white output form your dvd player and converst it to cable coax to hookup directly to your tv.
the are inexpensive and work really well.
they typically play on channel 3 or 4 of the tv
i have one at home and works great
