they are not on the list of the four dogs banned. If you get one though, be sure to have papers on it, even if they are AKC papers, to prove it isn't a pit bull breed..in case you ever need to..
Here is the site of the UK registry for them> http://www.bluebloods.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/2003_show_link.htm

I live in the US and the American bulldogs I have interacted with have been great dogs. I volunteer for a dog rescue so I am around lots of dogs. I would feel sorry for the breed and people missing out on a great dog. If people want to breed a dangerous dog they will find a way breed it. You can not ban all breeds that could be changed into a dangerous dog because all dogs have the ability to be dangerous if people train them to be. Government should go after the people not the dogs.

I don't know if they are banned in the UK, but I do know that the american bulldog is not a "pit bull type". The breed is classified as a mastiff type. I have had a pit bull, and I currently have an american bulldog. They are completely different dogs.

They aren't banned but they are still too rare at dog shows here to be a registered breed.

If you buy 1 find a good breeder don't buy from a free ads paper as many of them have pit bull blood and so are illegal.

American Bulldogs are not recognised by the American Kennel Club, so they will not be recognised by the Kennel Club in the UK. They are not a named banned breed but as they could be described as "Pit Bull TYPE" anyone owning one could risk having their dog taken away & destroyed.

If you mean american pit bulls then yes they are banned even though people put them down as irish staffy's and people still have them i own a Rottweiler and an English bull terrier and people dodge my bull terrier thinking he's going to bite them because of this breed even though he's soft but on the other hand it all depends on how a dog is brought up

They are not a banned breed but I don't think the kennel club recognizes them either. Pitbulls are banned in the UK.
