It makes a difference, those who use worm bins regularly to commpost veg. material use Red worms (Eisenia fetida). You could measure the quantity of material they consume and graph it. Depending on how long you have, you could track the worm population in relation to waste.

a worm is a worm is a worm.... I used just plain old nightcrawlers. the really long ones as they eat more! Good luck.
