Ladies -- why are a lot of you using "my man" instead of "my boyfriend" or "my husband"?

The use of this term annoys the crap out of me. I'm not yet sure why it annoys me. It just does.

Let me tell you something alot of women use it and i came across a very old picture of my dads brother and it had my man wrote on it the picture is over 50 years old and my auntie was the one that wrote it on there, they used that term back then also i guess its just making a comeback, i even use it , because my husband is my man and i am not afraid to say it.

That is hillarious. I feel the same way. It's weird. I think it just a ways to show ownership in a not so nice way. I hate it when men say "my woman".

OR maybe it's just that there are so many girls that look like men now they dont' want it to be confused, so they say "my man" to let it be known that it's a man??

I always say "My husband". I think 'my man' is only used by women who think that their 'men' are to be used for whatever purpose they want and have no greater purpose than to please the woman. It annoys me too. Both parties have to respect the other. The women wouldn't like it if the man said 'my old ball and chain' would they?

because he is my man. NOT a boy in any way. and we are more than friends. we refer to each other as our partner, better half or siggie. but that can be either sex... don't let it ruin your day there are worse terms.. how about old man or old lady. ball and chain, etc

it's because it gives the other female an indication that backk off he is mine the same way a man says to his partner that she is ma woman you know, it depends how u use it

It's officially payback for cheesy guys who refer to their dates and girlfriends in public as "M'lady" (or my beyotch if you're urban based).
