I'd rather have some more answers with substance. I'd like not to have quotes from the bible or from other people. I want your own opinion without the use of scriptures. Thank you.

I'll probably get scads of hate mail, but it gives idiots something to do...... So I'll go ahead and answer truthfully. MY truth.

I think the Bible is a beautiful book. It's been re-written several times, and in major ways. For instance, in the original Jewish text, the word used to describe Mary meant maiden. Not virgin. A young woman.

Now I'm probably gonna get shot. Sigh.

It's a book that has been written by men. Not God. And certainly not WOMEN, which would account for the gross misogyny. (Where do you think the origin of the "Madonna vs. Whore" complex originated, anyway?) That sexism exists to this day in almost all Christian churches -- and don't even get me started about Catholic. (Barefoot and pregnant. Always pregnant. More constituents, don't ya know.) It was written over a period of hundreds of years, so eye-witness accounts seem rather suspect.

I don't understand it. People from different religions don't necessarily think THEIR Holy Book is factual (I'm excluding fanatics here, ok?). Rather, it's parables and metaphors and STORIES. With meanings, certainly, and lessons to be learned, but STORIES. But it has turned into a complete & factual history (of the whole WORLD!), science and common sense be damned.

Humans have done a great disservice to a beautiful book. Evolutionists say that human beings starting looking into the whole God(s) area when they became conscious of death, and its permanence. It is a deep need to connect on a spiritual level with our maker(s). We are spiritual beings, and I do believe in God. But I think the great mysteries of God canNOT be written by a human.....and thus we developed symbols and imagery, legends and stories. They're beautiful, with stand-alone value. I feel the work and beauty is cheapened by imposing strict, fact-based interpretations.

Dang. Now I'm gonna have to freakin' MOVE.

The Bible is a book that has been translated and mistranslated over many centuries. It is a miracle that we have it in any form that we do right now. It is a popular book, and it can easily be said that it is the most popular of all time because of the number of copies sold, made, and how many languages it is in now.

I do not believe it is perfect. I think the revelation of God is perfect; however, I think that revelation is Christ, not the words in the Bible that men wrote down. I do think that it is a guide to my faith. I get great insight from it even though I do know that there are parts missing and there are some parts that are just mistranslated. Those things do not bother me to admit. My faith doesn't falter when I admit that an object is imperfect.

It isn't the Bible that my faith is based upon, it is God. God is perfect and the revelation of God in Christ is perfect. Those two things are what I based faith on, not a book. However, do not read me wrong. It is important to me, and without the Bible, I would be slightly lost as to anythign that is close to the words of Christ. The truth is, that is all we have.

The Bible is God's Word. In it God reveals Himself to us. God convicts us of our sin, shows us how lost we are apart from Him, and shows us the way of salvation--through God's Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible is our roadmap for life. There is no greater source of counseling and guidance than the Bible. I was 14 before I ever knew there was a book called the Bible. I was 18 before I ever started reading it. Once I started reading it, I discovered God's unconditional love for me as it was demonstrated in the cross of Jesus Christ! After seeing from the Bible that God invites me not to join a religion, but to join Him in a relationship, I trusted the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior. Since then my life has never been the same. I read the Bible just about every day. It is always fresh to me no matter how many times I have read a certain book or passage.
If you need a easy-to-understand Bible, your local Christian bookstore can help you pick one out. If you can't afford one, but you would like one, e-mail me. I will send you one absoluetly free.

It can be quite interesting, sometimes.

Revelation chap 4
"8: And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all round and within, and day and night they never cease to sing..."

Revelation, chapter 6
13: and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale;

Revelation, chapter 7
1: After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.

It does not say something approximately it in particular. What it DOES handle is lust. Jesus pronounced that lust is comparable to adultery (Matthew 5:28). So, in the journey that your masturbatory fantasies contain lusting after somebody, it could be seen in simple terms as sinful as adultery. on the grounds which you're already fornicating, you have delved into that realm of sexual sin at this factor. I hate to help you comprehend, yet I doubt which you're incredibly a Christian. you will possibly in simple terms say you're, yet you do no longer in all hazard comprehend the Lord. what's in the middle is what comes out. If love for Jesus replaced into on your heart, then the lust of the flesh does no longer have this manner of popular place. Matthew 12:35 a reliable guy out of the reliable treasure of the middle bringeth forth reliable issues: and an evil guy out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil issues. Matthew 15:18-20 18 yet those issues which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the middle; and that they defile the guy. 19 For out of the middle proceed evil techniques, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, fake witness, blasphemies: 20 those are the flaws which defile a guy: yet to devour with unwashen hands defileth no longer a guy.

I study Biblical criticism which is the study of its authorship, meaning and translation. Once you read what Biblical scholars have to say, you recognize it as fiction. While people have the tendency to say that it is inspired by God, scholars claim that there are somewhere in between 100,000 to 300,000 in the New Testament alone. I see at as mythology.

A wonderfull manual of peace, love, tolerance & forgiveness...

My favorite part is the one where 42 kids are torn appart. Nice touch those bronze age goat herders had when imagining tales at night around the camp fire and playing to scare each other.

It is a bit scary that today there are some people that believe those fairy tales are true....

I am still learning from it. So far it is fairly interesting. It is difficult to understand at times, but there is a lot on the Internet to assist one in understanding the difficult parts.

It has a lot of good teachings that you have to sieve through stuff to find. But it can be useful, especially if you read what Jesus said. It was written by man though, and I don't believe God would have taken away anyone's freewill to tamper with what they were writing.
