I have the same situation going on now, I've decided to ask both, my sister and my friend to be maids of honor. But my sister is my junior maid of honor because she is only 14 years old. There's nothing wrong with having 2 MOHs just try not to make one feel less important then the other!
Good Luck

Is your sister closer to you than your best friend? If not I would have the best friend. You want the person closest to you. Your maid of honor or matron of honor is your second in command it should be the person who will help you the most with things from shopping for your garter to keeping you grounded when you start to panic. It is a very important decision so think carefully. This person also usually plans or helps plan your bridal shower and or bachelorette party among other things

We bestow these honors on people because we think we are obligated to. The real deal is, who do you think will be in your corner, 100%, no matter what. The person that won't give you any grief or complain when you ask for help. The one that will understand you are just stressed when others are calling you a "bridezilla". The person who'll talk you out of postponing the wedding when they realize you just have "cold feet" but will also tell you "if it doesn't feel right then the choice is yours" and won't force you into something you don't feel comfortable doing. That is the person you want as your MOH. Good luck.

I don't think it matters, so long as both are bridesmaids. I've seen it done both ways. Who do you think would be able to offer you the most support? Who are you closer to?
You could also have two maids of honor, or a maid of honor and a matron of honor.

If have a great relationship with your sister and your friend, feelings may get hurt if one is picked over the other. Instead of having hurt feelings, you can have two maid of honor's or if one is married you can have one matron of honor and one maid of honor.

Either one would qualify but to keep peace in the family I would choose my sister. If you do not have a lot of bridesmaids I did see one wedding where there were two Maids of Honor, one gave the bride the ring for the groom and the other one held her bouquet during the ceremony. Congratulations.

I'd say sister... just because she's been there your entire life! or just make both of them you MOHs.. I'm having 5 bridesmaids, and 2 of them are Maids of Honor. I chose my 2 nieces as the MOHs. I figured it would be less conflict to chose my family for that role!

id go with your sister. from personal experience that "best" friend will screw you in the end. i wish i could go back to last year and change mine to my sister. i havent always had the best relationship with my sis. but she was more help than my maid of honor. good luck though.

it's completely up to you; usually people choose their sister(s) over their friends, but remember that it's YOUR wedding, not anybody else's. I actually was grateful to be able to choose my sister, because it kept me from having to choose between my friends and potentially hurting their feelings. if your best friend is married already, she can be your matron of honor, and your sister can be your maid - that's what i'm doing!
