I've seen several references to this, but just now I saw as an answer:
"and by the way Christianity is not a religion, its a fellowship of the Christ."

Are xtians actively trying to give their Religion another title, simply by repeating it over and over??? Do you think they then hope they can call their Religion a "fellowship" and then get around things like Religious stigma, separation of church and state, and use their new name for to prop themselves above other Religions?

Yes. Some Christians are trying to establish that Christianity is Not a Religion. (We need to help these people... please, when you reply to them, put this website in your answer somewhere so they can look the friggin words up! www.dictionary.com)

They can try to do those things... problem is, if they don't want to be recognized as a Religion, they lose their Tax Exemption ^_^ which expressly states that the Tax Ex is for a Religious Institute (I'm in accounting, I get these all the time from Churches) The Gov't would no longer recognize them as a Religion... there goes any public demonstrations at fairs, flea-markets, etc... they wouldn't be able to get a license to do these things under Religious Institute.

They better watch out... they may end up burying themselves while trying to appear superiour.

They can call it (or not call it ) anything they want to but it's still a religion. They like to think they are the only ones who have a relationship or 'fellowship' with God.

it is strictly why Christians and Muslims sense they are being "persecuted" via atheists/agnostics/pagans, etc. they don't look to understand that persons do in comparison to while they attempt to push their faith on them, and could actual like them to maintain their faith to themselves. while's the final time you observed a Buddhist pass on a information software and say that their faith is "under attack?" How a pair of Hindu? A Shintoist? A Wiccan? the clarification is by way of the fact they don't sense the could push their ideals on those around them, thereby sparking a backlash against them. Oh, and a few are saying JW and Mormons. those 2 are Christian religions additionally.. in simple terms not mainstream Christian.

It's a line of BS to try to disassociate themselves from the megachurches and televangelists. A "relationship" is a two-way street. When's the last time anybody had God or Jesus over to share a football game or barbeque?

Never. That's because their "relationship" is all in their head.

Fundies use "religion" the way normal people use "cult" - to imply that it is false. Their faith is, of course, just as much a religion as any other, but they have come to associate "religion" with what they call "legalism" which means "man made rules not taught by a fundie preacher."

I never thought of it that way. Regardless of what they consider it, it is still a religion. Until they stop worshiping a God it will remain a religion.

It is a religion no matter what they say, since it has rules for sanctioning our behavior, and a metaphysical aspect. It also has churches and other holy things.

Religion is man's way of trying to reach God.

Relationship is God's way of reaching us through Jesus Christ.

Christianity is so much more than "religion." Christianity is about a personal relationship with the living God.
