Just wondering about the duties, and values of both male and female important in upholding a successful Christian marriage. What is expected from each in general?

Mutual love and respect, that they honor one another, that the marriage bed be "undefiled"- that is, what goes on sexually between a married couple, so long as both are consenting, is fine, but neither is to step outside the marriage. The man is to be the woman's protector, and yes, she is supposed to be his helper, but that goes both ways. They are to be "equally yoked"- that is, both should be working equally for the good of the marriage and the family. And they are to support one another in their spiritual journey as Christians. Don't listen to the misogynists who have answered: the New Testament does not condone suppression or abuse of wives. "Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence, and likewise the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not the power of her own body, but the husband; and LIKEWISE ALSO THE HUSBAND HATH NOT THE POWER OF HIS OWN BODY, BUT THE WIFE." In other words: they should live for each other. Sounds good to me.

Most people say He has the characteristics of both, strong yet loving and nurturing. But most people call him a "HE" because He is mostly a strong, protective presence... supposed to be, anyway. Also, you can't call Him both easily, because you'd be saying stuff like: Oh, God is so wonderful He-she is so awesome. OR she-he is so great... it would sound strange.

Read 1 Corinthians 7.
Also see 1 Peter 3:1 (pertaining to a wife who is married to someone who either is not saved or walking with the Lord)

The husband is supposed to love his wife as Jesus loved the church.
It is very important, at all times, to keep Christ in the center of your marriage. What you do, do in His name.
Go to church and pray together, study your Bible together and be sure the friends you are around are also Christians...
Your hearts became one and never forget that God is the one who bonded this union. Be truthful, no matter what happens. Rely on God for your every need....
People that marry need to make sure they equally yoked....

Depends on the denomination. In Mormonism, women have "their place" which basically means they should be home barefoot and pregnant, taking care of the kids. The man goes out to work and can do whatever else he pleases.

In other denominations its not as drastic but still basically the same.
