He's the best in his weight class in UFC but not the best 185 pound fighter in the world.

1. Mauricio "shogun" Rua.. Former training partners that now seem interested in fighting each other. Rua is a very talented Mui Thai and Jiu Jitsu guy so it would be a great fight. 2. Luiz Cane... The guy is a beast! I dont know if he could beat Silva but he would make it a war for sure. He can take it and give too. 3. Quinton Jackson.. He has the wrestling to take down Silva and give him lots of problems 4. Ortiz.. He has the wrestling to give Silva problems 5. LYoto Machida I think could beat Silva too. They both have a similar style except Silva may be a bit more slick in the stand up, but Lyoto is much better in the wrestling so it evens out I think.

No Brent, Anderson is great, but he's not the best. There is only one man that can be considered the best UFC fighter right now and that's Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic. Anderson Silva can in absolutely no way be compared to this man. Mirko's kick boxing skills are without any question, completely superior to Anderson's, and with all the improvements that he's been making lately, his ground game is better as well. Mirko is a K-1 and PRIDE legend, by far the best striker in MMA world, and all around one of the most technical, powerful, athletically gifted and complete fighters out there today. No man in UFC, except GSP in his weight class perhaps, can come even remotely to his standard at the moment. You probably know how he handled Eddie Sanchez - his first opponent. Gabriel Gonzaga will suffer the same fate in April and then just wait and see what he does to big Tim Sylvia or Randy Couture in the title match. In my opinion there is only one man who can nowdays be considered pound for pound slightly better fighter then Mirko and that's sure as hell not Anderson Silva. That man is Fedor Emelianenko, but this is another topic.

Like I already said, Anderson is good, but the only reason why he seems like such a monster is because he's been running into a very weak and limited competition lately. As any true MMA fan will tell you, UFC until few months ago, was a completely hyped company, filled with third grade, mediocre fighters. So when Anderson - a real, talented, well trained, seasoned and experienced MMA fighter - came in and took on the likes of Chris Leben, very ill Rich Franklin and recently Travis Lutter, he of course crushed all of them without any problem. This is something that everyone, except hard core American, UFC only, MMA "experts" expected him to do and it was no surprise really. But to most of the US fans it was obviously a shock to find out about Anderson and that there is actually an MMA world outside of the United States, and therefore they instantly made this man into some kind of invincible machine, which of course he's not. Thing is simply that all real middleweight talent is in Japan right now, fighting in PRIDE, where Anderson got schooled on several occasions and in my opinion, if he were to face people like Dan Henderson, Paolo Filho and Denis Kang today, he would get schooled by all of them again.

So one last time - Anderson is great, without any questions, one of the best middleweights today and one of the top UFC stars at the moment, but there is absolutely no way in the world that you can seriously compare this man to Mirko in any aspect of MMA sport.

Hey, remember when I answered one of your boxing questions awhile ago and you said: "... listen to me a_p_ and you will learn so much more then you already know about the sweet science..."? Well this is MMA friend. Now you need to listen to me and you will learn so much more then you already know about this sport.

The Iceman would take him, and Rich Franklin might even beat him. The best UFC fighter is The Iceman.

No, Anderson Silva is not the best UFC fighter at the moment. Right now it would have to go to the "Iceman" Chuck Liddell.
