While Ikea does not currently have a gift registry, you could request gift cards. However, never put any gift giving info on your wedding invitations. That kind of thing is for shower invitations only. People are usually pretty savvy when it comes to finding out what to buy the bride and groom. Spread the word to a few close friends and before you know it, you'll have more Ikea gift cards than you know what to do with. Congrats by the way!

I was looking into registering in IKEA and came across their registry service in their Portland store. As of now it's only available in Portland. The feedback is great and they has some really unique features like a chip-in option. I'm hoping that they roll out this service in other stores and do it soon! I know a lot of engaged couples and expecting parents that would definitely register there if they had the option.

You can, I think. But you probably shouldn't. IKEAs aren't located in many places, and it's unlikely that all of your guests will leave close to one. And their shipping charges are outrageous, so you probably won't receive many gifts from there.
