It is very hard to get puppies in show business. Most of the time when they need animals for show business they call in reputable trainers that have a large variety of animals in case one is not cooperating on that day.

The average dog and owner is not capable of handling the work of an acting dog. Acting is about being able to teach the dog many different and often unusual skills and tricks quickly and reliably.

This is not just sit and lie down. It is strange things like jump and spin around on command from a distance.

This is something for a excellent trainer with a dog who just needs the cameras attention.

Generally advertizers go with a animal agency and an animal agency goes with a trainer and proven animal handler. They have many dogs and other types of animals that they train for the show buisness. If we are talking TV or movies. The dog has to be fully trained and cue oriented. If you can provide many dogs and animals that are well trained and can do things on cue then you can present yourself to an agency and get the proper licences and exposure.
For magazines and adverts or pics. Most agencies dont take people off the street and then put there dogs in magazines. Though good new there are tons of calander contests out there for people who like to do photography, if you can get really good resolution, professional quality head and photo shots of your dog you can generally get them in calendars and magazines.
A few years back a renowned Animal Agency was doing a sweep of our area for dogs from the pound, to adopt for training and using in shows and movies. They selected (after being screened and interviewed by our agents) a Gorgeous American Eskimo girl named Haughty. She was a rescue from a Puppy mill. They kept her name and used her for several things.
