I don't think I've worn one in over 30 years. It's definitely optional.

wearing a cross is an optional part of your Christianity. i wear one all the time, just because it is who I am, and I like having people know that I'm a Christian. There is no law or anything that says you have to wear a cross, it's just something a lot of people do.

Yeah it's optional. I've never worn a cross, the main reason being that I don't believe that the cross is the most important symbol of the religion, it's the empty tomb that matters the most. I guess if they made an empty tomb necklace I might wear that. I bet it would catch on and become a huge cultural phenomenon like the WWJD bracelets a couple of years ago.
Don't steal my idea, I thought of it first.

It is VERY optional, no one has to wear one, personal prefrance.

Most people i know who wear a cross are not even NEARLY Christian, most of them just trying to be cool. I think that the origional cause ,that the cross was supposed to symbolise, has gone out the door ages ago and is now, for many, just another fashion accesory,

It would be strange for any Christian to suggest such a requirement. A requirement like that could arguably fall under the category of "legalism" and "work's righteousness".

I know various people who have convictions about displaying symbols that identify themselves to others. That's great and I don't object. I personally don't often wear "Christian" gear because I've come to see it not as a witness to the world but closer to simply declaring some brand identity. I would rather identify myself with Christ through my actions and words than with my gear.

I don't wear a cross everyday. I have a few hanging on my walls for decoration because I think they are pretty. I have a few candle holders with crosses on them as well. There is no rule that says every Christian MUST wear a cross as a piece of jewelry. It is simply a reminder of what Christ did for us on that cross. It's a daily reminder that he sacrificed for us, and we also must take up OUR cross daily and follow Christ. We all have things that we sacrifice for the sake of following Christ. For every one of us, it is different. Nothing happens if I don't wear a cross because the message of it is ingrained in my heart and my mind. I don't need a physical reminder of what Christ did, but sometimes, it is nice to have it.

I'm Christian. I don't wear a cross.

The cross is just the symbol of our faith. It isn't what we worship...

(I guess I'm considered protestant also, btw.)
In my opinion, it's optional.

Besides, most people wear crosses more as ornament/accessory, not because it has any significant meaning to them.

Some Christians wear it as a witnessing tool - to identify themselves as Christians; but again, it's not noticed so much as being that this day in age.

Hey, I know of Atheists who wear crosses! (They think they're pretty)

lol it's optional. I haven't worn mine in years, the little catch thing broke off and I never bothered to get it replaced.

Most Christians I know don't wear crosses on their necks. It's just a fashion statement, nothing more.

The cross necklace is only a reminder of what God does for us. The necklace itself does not save us, even the wooden cross Jesus died on doesnt save us. I am a full gospel Christian. Of course it is optional. its only a reminder of what God has done. If one thinks that cross they wear saves them, they best throw it out, as that surely superstition and of the occult. even the devil loves to get in on Godly things and mess it up. Only Jesus saves, and we better get that one, big time. I can have a necklace , God doesnt care one way or the other, but if I think it saves me and protects me, that is witchcraft... gotta go.

I don't wear a cross. That must be some type of rule or ritual with relegions who are caught up in rules and rituals instead of understanding the grace of God.

Remember JESUS IS ALIVE! He is alive forevermore! Yes He died on the cross, but HE ROSE again! We should always look to the cross but we should always look to His resurrection to!
