Bassets can average about 10 years, because of there large and odd size, some will tend to get enlarged hearts, spine problems, and bone related disease. They are also prone to fatty sebacious cysts. that can compromise internal organs.
If your Basset is realatively disease free, you keep them healthy, correct weights, you dont over breed them, and feed them good foods, they can live for well over 10 years.
