Here's a helpful chart:

the numbers are approximate - the actual numbers will depend on the level of compression, etc...

it depends on the size and quality of the pictures you are taking. The settings on your camera can be adjusted to let you fit more by reducing the size.

If I had to guess, I would say that a 512 MB card would hold, on average, about 150 pictures at a high quality. I have a 1 GB card, and my camera setting shoots a picture of about 3 MB, so I can fit about 300 pictures on my camera. I could fit about 900 if I put it on a small setting, but I love the resolution I get from that quality shot.

My camera (Samsung Digimax 420) can hold about 250 on a 512 with 4.0 megapixel resolution, 2272x1704 pixels (approx jpg compression of 90).

At standard resolution it would be around 1000.

Compare the megapixel value of your camera and use this as a rule of thumb... If yours is higher, you will be able to store less pictures. Lower = more.

it relies upon on the dimensions and high quality of the photos you're taking. The settings on your digicam may well be adjusted to help you slot greater via reducing the dimensions. If I had to guess, i could say that a 512 MB card could carry, on popular, approximately one hundred fifty photos at a widespread type. I also have a a million GB card, and my digicam placing shoots a image of roughly 3 MB, so i'm able to in high-quality condition approximately 3 hundred photos on my digicam. i could in high-quality condition approximately 900 if I positioned it on a small placing, yet i like the call i'm getting from that high quality shot.

My SD card holds 650, but when you download your pictures to Kodak Easyshare it opens up those slots again on the camera when you delete your downloaded pictures. So far I have 1600 pictures downloaded from this one set up. My camera is a KODAK EasyShare DX7630. I also get 30 minute videos on this. It gets used a lot for high school competitive events.

Depends on the resolution and the compression of the pictures. But 512 is pretty big for digital imaging.

Most times someone asks this question never mentions the amount of pixel setting being used. If your camera is a 6 MP and you shoot at it's finest setting you would get about 160 shots.
At 5MP about 204 shots
at 4MP about 250 shots
at 3 MP about 425 shots.
I would not sacrifice quality just to get more photos.

Depending on the resolution... mine holds over 600, and my resolution is HUGE.
