it has like a slit down the middle,like a cut, and feels like there are sores all over the surface

Could be something like a viral infection....my sister had sores all over her tongue a few years ago,.......she was told it was a viral infection, and cholorseptic cleared it up....so you might wanna try that. My cousin was takin to the er last night because his mouth was hurting and his gums were actually swollen, he is being treated for Strep Throat.......they said normally it doesn't do that, there are just a lot of infections going around right now!! Hope you feel better soon!

Are you taking any medication? I know that sulfa made mine hurt, so bad I had to lie in front of a fan with my tongue stuck out. lol Another thing, you could have a lot of yeast or some kind of thrush. You need to see a dr. about this. I had to have a biopsy of my tongue a few years back because I had a sore that wouldn't go away, but thank God it wasn't cancer. Please see a dr.
