My family stayed there two years ago when they came to visit me, best hotel they've ever been to they said. Extremely expensive but the location and view are breathtaking, not to mention the amenities and perfect service from the staff. I definitely recommend booking dinner at La Pergola for the night. Michelin 3-star, one of the best restaurants in the world. It sits atop the hotel with the best view in all of Rome. If you're into wine make sure to ask if you can check out their wine cellar, some unreal stuff.

We're heading back there in August and we already booked the hotel and have inquired about reservations at La Pergola. You can't go wrong, trust me. As far as tour operators go, visit the hotel's website to see if they have any partnerships. It is, in the end, under Hilton management so I'm sure you can find something.

The Cavalieri Hilton is a beautiful hotel with a breathtaking view, but it is in the middle of nowhere. You can get absolutely nowhere from the hotel. There is nothing of interest near to it, either. Many tour operators will pick you up and drop you off, but if you want to go out to eat or see the sights on your own, you will have to take a taxi.

Here is a map of its location, which shows just how far from everything it is: http://www.viamichelin.it/viamichelin/ita/dyn/controller/mapPerformPage?strCountry=612&strAddress=Via+Cadlolo%2C+101+&strCP=&strLocation=roma&x=0&y=0#locid=24115dgg9o3101310141lzy10549neacNDEuOTE4ODU_cMTIuNDQ1Njk_cNDEuOTE5Njg_8MTIuNDQ2cNDEuOTE4ODU_cMTIuNDQ1Njk_0jVia%20Alberto%20Cadlolo

Also, here's the site of a really good tour operator which deals with the Hilton guests: www.vaticancitytours.com

They do private touring, and can pick you up from your hotel.

You may want to switch to a hotel like the Westin Excelsior, which is in the center of town, on the Via Veneto.

That is a very Classy and Expensive Hotel that is on a hill in a Park outside of Rome -- I went there for drinks because it has a great view of the CIty. It has a Michelin Three Star Restaurant. If any tour operator deals with them at all, it would be the most high end ones.
