Well you definitely can have a wedding for under 2000. Especially since you are having the ceremony at a church (only fee would include any decorations you may want/need and the 50 -100 for the minister's fee) and the restaurant will cover the food - if by small you mean 50 or less, I think you'll be fine. You can rent his tux and buy a nice gown instead of a wedding dress for yourself. You should at least have one special person stand up with you and he should have a best man - but that's optional too. I think you'll have a nice affair and your budget will workout for you.

Marry at the courthouse and use the $2,000 for the small family reception. The Church minister will probably cost $100-200; flowers can be actually bought or made (Jeffrey Allan's or Michael's); it's the food/catering that will kill ya and the dj or band and the drinks. Courhouse cheap, quick, and money spent all on the reception. Formal will be extremely hard to keep under $2,000. Mine was nice but not fancy and dress, tuxes, church, minister, reception hall, catering was just under $7,000

sure. having the reception may be the most expensive part. a party of 10-15 people at a decent restaurant should run $400-$500. if you make the decorations for the church yourself, you'll save there as well. large party goods stores actually rent furniture and larger decoration pieces.

for $2000 you can have a intimate wedding that will be great.

no A FORMAL WEDDING cannot be done for under 2000. You said a small wedding...assuming that is only 25 people, if you only paid $50/head, that would already be 1250. If its a formal wedding I would assume that you would also have a dress and flowers, and that right there already puts you over $2000.

That being said, you can probably swing an informal wedding for $2000 if you had a very limited number of guests, no honey moon, no photographer/videographer, no limo, limited flowers and alcohol, and cheap dress without accessories, and no DJ or music entertainment.

My wedding was about $3000 but most of it was travel expenses. Here is what we did: No bridal party, attire (tux and dress) bought on Ebay for a total of $250, bought craft materials at a local craft store and made centerpieces that consisted of small glass bowls filled with clear blue marbles, water, and a tea light floating candle, draped silk flowers bought at a craft store. Clear blue napkins, cups, and plates bought at Party City, and the food was done by the family, sort of a pot-luck deal. What saved us the most was getting married at the JOP's office, then doing our own ceremony, marrying ourselves without the aid of a minister. It was more meaningful. Invitations and programs were printed out from our computer (husband is a graphic artist) and printed on materials bought at Office Max.

Absolutely! Keep the guest list small like you are doing. Check out nice restaurants and see what they charge per person. Bring in your own wine, beer and soda and champagne for the toast. Have on menu; one meat; one fish; one poultry. No open bar unless Guests pay for their own drinks from the bar. Have restaurant order wedding cake; and ask if it will be included in the price. Good Luck

Sure it can, limit your guests and speak with the reasturant you have in mind let them know your budget per person and see if they can work it out. Make sure you limit the alchohal as that normally is what costs the most. Or see if the reasturante will let you bring wine in and not charge a corkage fee.

my mom did it. they got married at a church they go to, and have known the father for many years. then they made their own bouquets, and me, her best friend, and my kids were the ones on her side. on his side was his daughter and grand kids. my husband took pictures, and recorded it. then we all went to the restaurant that they go to every week and had a family style dinner. one of my mothers good friends bought a small single layer wedding cake, and it was a very nice occasion. they did it for about $1000.00 with about 20 ppl.
