The major supermarkets regularly have offers on salmon so it's worth keeping an eye on their websites, then you can buy whole salmon in bulk and freeze it in portions. It's an easy fish to cut up because they're so big, as are the bones. Whole salmon in Tesco, for example, are usually around £10/kg but half that when on offer. If you shop toward the end of the day, or near the end of the offer period, quite often there'll be a lot of stock to get rid of and the fishmonger will sometimes do a deal for you. Don't be afraid to ask if it's likely that any will be reduced - they do have to get rid of them.

Well first of all, there are two main types: Farm Raised and Wild Salmon. Farm Raised is cheaper but the taste is not as powerful. Wild caught cost about 25-40% more per lb. but the taste is much better. In CA farm raised in about $6-8lb and wild is about $10-12 lb. Oh and if you shop at a wharehouse store you get it cheaper as well. I would not recommend buying frozen. Buy only fresh. It tastes much better. ENJOY!

Buy it in bulk at places like Costco or Sam's Club. Everything's cheaper when you buy it in bulk. We got about a 3-4 pound bag of frozen Alaskan salmon at Costco for around $14. They are individually frozen and are delicious!
