Contact the VA. It's touchy if you aren't a relative, but employer's are verifying military service all the time.

If it's someone just running off at the mouth, ask for his DD-214. That shows his military service, and you could see if he was there. There are also web pages that you can search for someone, go to www.militaryonesource.com and look for some links through there.

Google "Military Personnel Records Center." It's in or near St. Louis and it has certain records that you can access (not all of them because some are protected by the Privacy Act) so you should be able to find out whether a certain person was in the armed forces during the Vietnam Conflict at the very least.

Usually if they are posers they will give themselves up without knowing it. Ask questions repeatedly and notice if the answers change. If at any point you get an answer that they were doing black ops missions then just dismiss it immediately as fake. I take it a step further and call on a reliable source for help. If you are able to get enough personal information contact the POW network and send a request to Chuck and Mary Shantag so they can look him or her up. They will nail them! I would especially if they were putting themselves in the public eye and decieving others purposely.

I would contact a local reservist and ask that same question. Im assuming its public record to see if someone served in the military in their lifetime, but really, call an Army recruiter. Good luck!

Without knowing your reason for knowing, this is hard to answer. Your local VFW would be the first place I would contact.

Why would it matter if he's lying about it?
