And I'm single, I don't have any kids/wife, I just used to be fairly good friends with my friend... till he got married with kids. Should I bring a gift? (as I don't have any kids that he could return the favor to) What should I get? As I don't have any kids myself, I don't know what kids are into these days. The child is 3. I don't mind shelling out around $20, but I don't want to seem patronizing or weird.

They are inviting you to hangout. You are not obligated to buy a gift but you should. You may not have kids that he can buy for but I am sure he will be feeding you and providing you both a chance to hang out. Buy a cheap dvd (there are lots under $20) as kids like tv, even at three. Check out the kids section at Walmart and Target. Think Bob the Builder or Barbie. The kid will like it and your friend will appreciate the gesture.

I'm sure your friend didn't invite you simply to accrue more gifts for the child. Ask your friend what the 3 yr old is into--Barney, Elmo, whatever and you can find a DVD, toy figure, stuffed character, anything related to the child's preference (dinosaurs?) very inexpensively at any wal-mart or target. Whatever you do, skip the gift card idea--3 yr olds are into immediate gratification and its really just a hassle for the parents to drag the kid to the store while he/she decides what to get, which usually ends up costing more than the gift card anyhow.
You only need to stay until they sing Happy Birthday, then make your excuses and leave if you feel uncomfortable around all the rug rats.

Bring a gift but you don't have to spend $20. I have seen lots of toys are inexpensive, but since he's 3, you can also buy him a good story book so your friend can read it for his kid. Don't give him gift card, though. $20 sounds little when you have it in writing. And what fun is for the kid to unwrap a card in his gift box?

it rather is unheard of. Why might a customer could pay for a million/2 of a baby's birthday party? additionally, why is he basically asking to you pay for a million/2 too? What approximately the different visitors, why are they allowed to return for unfastened? besides... basically some question approximately this guy's good judgment, yet inspite of who you're and who else is coming, no customer of any party could could pay for any the fee of the party and particularly no longer 0.5!!!! All you're are envisioned to deliver is your self, and a present day in case you prefer to be an outstanding customer. ;)

The best thing: a gift card ($20 is perfect) for a local bookstore. A 3-year old is just getting really interested in picture books and learning letters and numbers. If you have a major chain in the area (like Barnes and Noble or Borders) that would be a great place to start.

How good of friends are you guys? A good freind would bring one no matter what. $20 bucks is good for three years. I if it is a girl get her a doll, dress up clothes at wal mart. I fit is a boy then a truck or nerf ball. The simplest gift is the funnest at that age

if you want to be really nice.. buy a card and either put the $20 in it, or a Toys R Us gift card..
I'm sure they'll be thankful, either way..
