Since I am a man and like most other men, when I see a pretty girl walk by, I notice. I'd be foolish to say that the body of an attractive woman doesn't turn me on. That's why women should dress modestly. I know what I'm thinking as they walk by, and I don't like the fact that I think that way sometimes. Women know the only reason they dress provocatively is to get that kind of attention. Hell, it you got it, sure show it, but remember what "guys" are seeing. Not you, just your body.

Well yes ,but everyone has a different meaning of the word "decent". What is considered decent in the US isn't considered decent in other countries where women can't show their faces. So it all depends on the degree of what decent means to you.Though what is more admirable than that would be having women AND men be decent and moral of heart regardless of the attire he/she chooses to wear.

I am Muslim and dress appropriately. I have no intention to start quoting the Koran!

The concept of constitutes decent clothing differs greatly between various cultures. In some cultures, exposing the face or the chest is cause for much abuse. I think, personally, we in the west have taken things a bit too far, however. The human body is a beautiful thing, agreed, but it is also precious and when we show it off through scanty clothing we are showing we do not consider ourselves to be of value. We are merely competing and showing the goods to tease and or catch male interest. In other words, we dress for other people.

When I was in Asia last summer I saw women dressed decently by Islamic and Hindu standards. Indian women were like butterflies and flowers as they floated over the littered ground beneath their feet. Even larger women were graceful and beautiful. Size made little difference because the colourful graceful saris and shalmar kameez flow so gracefully and makes any woman beautiful.

By the time I was in America again, I was fully accustomed to such grace. Western dress was visually unappealing and obscene to my eye. I do not speak of morals. I do not speak of decency. I speak of simple aesthetics. These women just did not appeal to aesthetics.

Suddenly I was seeing overweight ladies bulging out of co lourless tight pants and short tight tops. It was not flattering to any of them. I wondered if these women had any idea of how unflattering their dress was. We in the West are afraid of colour and limit ourselves to primarily browns, blacks and beige with a few splashes of colour.

I kept thinking, "Darlin', wear a sari. Your midriff would not bulge out so unflattering!"; "Woman, cover your breasts! They ain't all that grand!"; "Lady who wants to see your camel toe? Gross."

Decent clothing is actually much sexier than outright exposure. Leaving something to the imagination is much more attractive to most men who are decent. It gives them something to work for.
Showing it all off leaves nothing to the imagination and makes a man figure it is there for the taking.

Men are men, after all.

The sad thing is, these girls dress like floozies because this is what they are programmed to do by a male-dominated entertainment industry. With the growth of pornography women should see how it effects us ALL! Look at what children have been fed by the, again, male-dominated, music industry! Madonna & Brittany and their slutty clothing or what women wear on MTV videos! Young impressionable boys and girls buy into it because they have been taugth this is "in" and how "everyone else" dresses.

Ohhhh I can see the thumbs down for that line but, if you truly look deeply into this, and are brutally honest, you will see this is the truth. There is no excuse for rape so please do not think I am blaming women for these things. It is all part of our culture and the many mixed signals that women and men send each other.

Basically, aesthetics. Go naked at home but dress a little more decently in public. I, for one, do not like seeing sprayed on pants or tops down to there.

It is all a matter of GOOD TASTE!!!!

I think most women dress according to their mood or personality.
The self esteem boost is a good thing if they're not prone to over exposure. The perception of what is 'decent' tends to improve with age ;)

I agree! A woman can look CLASSY without having to show off her body. A woman that tries too hard in her appearance is trying to attract attention whether she consciousely knows it or not.
A woman should Respect herself, her body should be for her husband, and her husband only. Out in public a woman should be conservative to some extent.

Yes, a very good idea. Showing too much skin can be considered slutty, and can be dangerous in some places.

I'd prefer men and women cover at least their torsos, preferably more. Its rude to go about in public undressed, and very undignified. In their own homes, they can go nude if they like.

Absolutely. Women who flaunt their bodies wonder why they are the victims of sexual crimes, when they march around looking like whores.
