We hear often that Muslim 'religious martyrs' are rewarded with the 'company' of multiple virgins in the afterlife. Is that even true? If so, does it differ from what non-martyrs can expect?

Basically, how does the Muslim idea of heaven (?) work, and does it differ for men and women? If there are female 'martyrs', how are they rewarded? Or do dead Muslim women turn into those very virgin rewards (if they exist)?

(and please spare me polemics/prejudices - I'm genuinely curious)

ETA: I get the point about companions/servants, but... are they former/dead human beings, or a different species/entity?

There is not discrimnation based on gender in Heaven. A verse clearly states both women and men will be rewarded with perfected mates that were created for this purpose.Along with anything they desire:

41:31 "We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall ye have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall ye have all that ye ask for!-

As for the companions named hur al-ayn mention in this verse:

44:54 So; and We shall join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

They are special companions created for pleasure in heaven. Although they are described creatures with big and lustrous eyes and 'whom no man or Jinn before them has touched' and who are 'Like unto rubies and coral'”. They aren't granted more beauty than human female dwellers of paradise. Nor are they exclusive to martyrs.

There is no difference between heaven for men and for women. The reward is not a multitude of virgins to have sex with, but a host of pious and pure companions. Heaven is paradise - only the good things and nothing bad.

I don't know where this myth of the virgins came from, but its what a lot of those terrorist groups use to motivate their mass murderers. Sad, really, and amazing that a man (or woman) would commit one of the gravest sins - murder - in hopes of some corporeal reward.

Muslim idea of heaven:

Wealthy Endless Gardens; with all fruits and wine you can imagine and those you can't. Where deers and birds talk to people and live happily with them.. You'll Re-marry your faithful woman again if she's been faithful after death.. and\or you shall be rewarded with females who died virgins with no marriage or sex.. There's no anger, rage or hatered. You can see God and talk to him.. Rivers of milk, honey and wine and honey shall serve you. Flying babies "Like Kubid" shall be at your service whenever you "think" of something. Houses shall be of Gold and silver.

There's no difeference between Men and women in that. Women also choose their partner in heaven. You can see your friends and all your lovers.

This is not only for martyrs, it is for whomsoever been good and God loves him, for whomesoever is sinless, despite of his beliefes or religion. "Shiek YUSUSF AL QARAZAWY says".

martyrs are rewarded with more, as they Gave themselves to God, the martyrs' idea is so wide; Death by an infection is so, death by fire, defending your money, yourself, or any other human, death by water "drowning", in the wreck of a fallen place "house or something".. Death in lonliness where you don't know anyone surrounding you.. Death while searching, studying or trying to learn science.

If you actually researched, there's no such thing as 72 virgins written anywhere in the Qu'ran nor in the hadith. If you search deeper, it was on some book by Al-Timidhi.

But, Al-Timidhi was born in the 9th century, Muhammad died in the 7th century, where a hadith is what Muhammad said and did. So, it wasn't really a hadith, more like a weak intrepretation.

So that's the truth, there's no such thing as virgin rewards.

The companions spoken in the Qu'ran are servants. You get servants in Heaven.

a guy who considers himself inherently extra suitable to them. whilst it comprises gender equality, he confuses the language. there is gender equality in Islam. In Islam, women are adult men's human, social, psychological, and religious equals. no longer extra suitable. no longer inferior. equivalent. women are equivalent with adult men, no longer comparable to or comparable with them. in simple terms through fact adult men do no longer substitute into pregnant, provide beginning, and flow via the "time of the month" does not cause them to inherently extra suitable to women. organic and organic ameliorations has no longer something to do with who's extra suitable to whom. besides, if women did no longer flow via the "time of the month", there could be no adult men (and females). it fairly is all a non-provide up, repetitive cycle.
