Well I've had my separators in for about a day and I'm in major pain. so my first question is when will this pain go away :(?
My 2nd question is will braces be even worse than I feel now with separators on?

Thanks

Well my orthodon said the braces would hurt worse, and most people on the internet say they don't hurt that bad so I think she's just a bad orthodon.

Oh in that case I have separators, I didn't know expanders were different.
I've already been eating soup and jello, nothing else I can really eat lol.

been there done that, and don't want to go back there again. the pain should go away in a day . just make sure to take IBprofin and eat soft foods that you don't have to chew like, mashed potatoes and gravey or pudding. the same goes for braces. they will probably hurt more or less than the expanders, and your teeth might feel a little loose, but don't wiggle them! one of the first things that the dentist will tell you is not to play with your braces, because that could mess them up. but once you get them in the colors will look so nice and everyone will be asking you if they can see them, that you'll wonder what you were so worried about. trust me, i have braces on right now.

The initial pain of the expanders will go away in a few days after your teeth get used to the movement. Braces themselves don't actually hurt, but when your orthdontist adjusts/tightens them you will feel some soreness that evening, and it will typically last for a day or so. Braces move the teeth...so to expect no pain it not realistic. GoodLuck!

Do you mean expanders? I had expanders on the top and bottom. They hurt the worst. The pain would go away after a day or so, but would hurt again every time I had to use the "key" to expand them more. Braces themselves don't hurt at all...unless you have a loose wire that pokes your mouth...

try eating soup the warm helps with the pain same with when you actually have th braces on. sometimes the separators hurt worse it depends on what they have to do to fix your teeth.

separators and expander's are different
Separators are just little things to move your teeth apart so they have a way to secure your braces to your teeth

Expander's change the shape of your mouth usually you have to tighten them on your own with a key

Which do you have?

Just take an aspirin while the pain is at its worst and mouth wash with hydrogen peroxide. It kills pain like crazy.

As the teeth open up the pain will not be a great and aspirin will help a great deal.

It will be worth it.
