I have jet black hair and henna is the most natural, easiest, and safest way to get color in your hair without the hair stripping bleaches and the chemicals. I would recommend going to a beauty supply store, organic store like Whole Foods, or even an Indian store to buy a package of hair henna. Be sure to read the back and make sure it's all natural and not mixed with chemicals.

Once you have colored your hair with henna, add a little lemon juice to your conditioner to keep the color radiant and shiny.

All the women in my family have been doing this for years so I can assure you this will work.

Hope this helps!

I have black hair and I have actually had burgundy put into my hair. With hair as dark as ours it does not always take so you have to see a salon professional to have it done and more less depending on how truly black your hair is it may not show up unless the sunlight hits it in some instances. My advice to you is to see a salon professional and find out if they have a product especially made for you hair which most high quality and reputable salons do. Good luck!

If you want to go red or burgundy for the color to even show up you will have to do some lifting of your natural color if you want the burgundy or red to show through. It just depends how much you want it to be apparent. You can lift up to 4 levels of your natural color. The lowest would be 2 shades.

If you just deposit color (using 10v developer) if you hair is very dark, you may have see some very small highlights in the sun or light, but nothing dramatic or significant.

I have jet black hair and when I wanted to color it I couldn't get the color to stay or even color so I had to go to the salon to get it done with out damaging my hair. You might have to do that and you wont have any trouble dying it from then on. I havenl't had any with mine

My hair can be bleached but never dyed. It doesn't take correctly. If you want a burgandy you have to go for a lighter red dye.

I have dyed red over black, and it does come out a deep mahogony type of color. The one that I really like is made by Herbal Essences, and I forgot what the name of it is, but it is the deepest red that they have, and over black hair, it turns burgandy/slightly purple.

If you go to your salon, they came out with new red tones color made just for that. You do not have to bleache your hair. It was made I believe for African American hair, but every one with black hair can use it. I believe Wella or Redkin is the one that has it. Just call your stylist and explain to them what you are wanting. But if you go to the store and buy something, the answer is no.

I say it's a nice swept to the side bang with a shoulder cut. since jet black is ahard color go with a nice simple cut if your one of those hardcore girls go with a swept to the side layered kinda look. this also depends on your hair lenth. yuocould even possibly do just a layered look with the black No bangs. hope this helped

Go to a salon. You will need to gradually go lighter in color. You are going to have to strip it though, which sucks, but if you go to a professional, they will be able to do this without damaging your hair as much as if you do it yourself. I have jet black hair and i would NEVER EVER consider going lighter on my own... Save yourself from damaging your hair and spend the extra money...

yeah i have really dark, thick, coarse hair. i think no matter what youre going to strip your hair if you lighten it... but just use a really good conditioner daily, and probably a good repair one weekly. have you tried Feria for dark hair? i always liked my results using Feria.... if youre thinking about going like more than 2 shades lighter you should find a GREAT salon who knows what they're doing though.
