What do you like? Pick what you want to wear not what others want you too, go with what you think best suits your personalty and wear that. Its about you and its your day, do it the way you want, if you want others for their input thats fine but remember you have final say and it should be what you are pleased with not with what others want. I think the white dress would be best, champaigne just doesnt do it for me. White is more crisp and clean and looks beautiful.

"White did not become a popular option until 1840, after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg. Victoria had worn a white gown for the event so as to incorporate some lace she owned. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published, and many other brides opted for a similar dress in honor of the Queen's choice. The tradition continues today in the form of a white wedding, though prior to the Victorian era a bride was married in any color except black (the color of mourning) or red (which was connected with prostitutes). Later, many people assumed that the color white was intended to symbolize virginity, though this had not been the original intention. (It was the color blue that was connected to purity.) Today, the white dress is understood merely as the most traditional and popular choice for weddings, not necessarily a statement of virginity." I chose not to go with a white dress out of personal preference...the thought of wearing all white makes me want to puke. My favorite color is purple, so I went with a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown in Midnight Lavender.

Do what you want!!! White is always in for a wedding dress. Your past doesn't matter at all. You could always look for a white dress with a touch of another color in it. I have seen beautiful white dresses with a little black ribbon on them, or they lace up the back with black.

The world is completely different from when your mother got married.Just let her know that you appreciate her input but it is your day and you would like to chose the color of your dress. If your wedding is going to be a black and white affair then the bride should definitely wear white.

Please YOURSELF it is your day and not hers. If you want a white dress wear a white dress! women do it all the time these days. If you decide to follow her advice then incorporating the champagne color in your color scheme is the way to go. champagne does not have to be a tarnished looking white by the way. I have seen several peoples ideas of champagne and it seems like a very pretty very light gold not metallic at all but soft

Do what you want, if she's worried about the whole white dress representing purity then she's wrong. The whiteness of the dress is traditionally to represent extravagence and the money the family has. It has nothing to do with purity or virginity. Again, its your day, your wedding so do what you want.

Does she think people will be shocked that you choose to wear white with kids??? Thats pretty old fashioned. If your theme is black and white stick with that. She will get over it.
