Aussie makes a "scrunching hair spray" that works great.
If you have stick straight hair you will need to buy a 3 barrel wave curler to even begin to get the look. They only run about 15 dollars and are easy to use. Don't overuse the hairspray or you're hair will get stiff and crunchy. The look will last all day.

It depends on your hair type. (The more natural wave/curl you have the better it will work & the longer it will stay.)

I scrunch my hair A LOT & you can use most any of the "curly" gels, mousses, or sprays. I like the Got2Be line a lot, but all the others that I have tried work fine, too. I would only use a gel if you have medium to thick hair that already has a lot of natural wave/curl. If you don't like the feel of a lot of product in your hair, I would use a curling spray or mousse.

How long will it last...it depends on your hair to some degree. The scrunching will relax as the product wears out, but too much product on thin hair will weigh it down.

How to...
1) wash your hair (the curling shampoos will help with this style too...especially if you have straighter hair)
2) towel dry it (leave some moisture in hair (esp. at the root)
3) put whatever curling product on hair
4) blow-dry using a diffuser, but don't use a brush or comb, simply scrunch your hair (wad it up in you hand) as you dry it...you just keep doing this until your hair is basically dry (damp roots are o'kay, but the ends should be dry)
5) style bangs if you have them & spray

Note: The more often you do this, the more you "train" your hair to do it & that makes it easier & hold longer

Another tip:
I have scrunched my hair for over 15 years...but a couple of years ago, I was shown a shortcut. It will only work if you have natural wave/curl...Buy several big hair clips like they use at the salon & before drying, scrunch (wad up) sections of hair & clip your scrunched hair all over your head. Then dry this with either a blow dryer or a bonnet dryer. Take hair down & finger through to rearrange anything that needs it & then step 5 above.

This is what I do... After showering I towel dry my hair pick through it a little bit. Then I put a small amount of Scrunch moose in my hair and tip my head upside down and start scrunching. I also use Loreal Scrunching spray if I feel my hair is not doing what I want it to do. I use my hair dryer with a defuser on it as well, keep your head upside down and use the dryer on low and push your hair up just like you would if you were scrunching. My hair doesn't like to stay where i put it so when my hair is about halfway dry I add Ausie Scrunch Spray Gel (it has some hold in it but not solid like some hairspray). I keep drying either upside down or to the side until it is almost dry. I don't dry it all the way or it sometimes ends up Frizzy. With the products I use I usually have to wash my hair everyday. But most of the time it is still wavy when I go to bed.

Use Loreal Pumping Curls. Spray it on while hair is damp, put your head down and scrunch away! It should last all day. It works best if your hair has a natural wave to it and if you don't brush it after washing it.

My hair is straight, but when i want to scrunch it I use Pantene Style body builder volumizing gel. I put it in after the shower when my hair is damp and then blow dry it upside down while scrunching it with my hands. it lasts all day.

There is curl scrunching spray by Herbal Essences and Garnier Fructis. Spray a little into your hair while it is damp (NOT soaking wet) and then scrunch your hair in your hands and fluff your ends.

you can buy aussie sprunch spray, when your hair is towel dried and brushed out. spray lots on your hair and scrunch your hair in your hands and let dry naturally. works really well and lasts until you wash your hair again.
