What a great question - I have often thought about that myself and do think the two are the same - being "in-love" is just a nice sounding spin on the infatuation. And yes it is unhealthy because when you're with the person you will experience jealousy and arguments will occur especially when you spend every waking moment with each other like most couples do. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti-relationship or anti-being in love but yes being in-love means that you are addicted to that person and almost a feeling of ownership is involved like that's "my" girlfriend or "my" fiancee or "my" husband and when you're let down from a break-up - divorce - or someone cheating on you it takes that euphoric powerful feeling away from you which 9 times out of 10 leads to depression.

well, I'm not sure if you are completely sane but love will do that to you...either way, YES infatuation is a great...whether it means that you are in love with that person...NO, not necessarily. Infatuation is not and unhealthy addiction unless it ends on Jerry Springer Show, but infatuation in a healthy dose just mean that you respect that person a lot and value his/her opinion and in some cases it might end with obsession in that you want to become the person u r infatuated with. On the other hand, in healthy doses, it can be a great starting point for love. (and you distinguish between a healthy and unhealthy dose by looking in the mirror: if you are wearing the same clothes and same haircut as the person u are infatuated with...well, that makes you weird and you need to stop it cos it's unhealthy! or if the person runs away and looks for a police officer every time he/she sees you, yeah, that's unhealthy too). Good luck!

Being in love with someone has nothing to do with infatuation. They are completely different emotions.

Infatuation is an immature emotion. Doesn't mean it isn't a valid one, simply an immature one. Infatuation can turn to obsession, which is an unhealthy addiction and can be very harmful to both parties.

A healthy relationship deeply rooted in love will change over the years, usually for the better. Love that is properly cared for and nurtured can last a lifetime.

Love is not the same thing as infatuation. A true love will not fade away since it is based on friendship and an emotional attachement to another person.

Infatuation is not unhealthy - why would you think it is??

it'll go away by itself. Unfortunately it is kind of unhealthy, though it's also normal. If I think back on the last 10 people I thought I was "in love" with (out of, possibly 100!!) I just laugh. The heart tricks the brain. It's not fair. Fortunately, the spell is temporary.

Infatuation and love are different. You can be infatuated with someone and not really in love.. so yes, it can be unhealthy becuase you think you are in love but you really aren't, so you do things that may be unjustified.

I dont believe that your infatuated with the person i just think that your really impressed with how much they make you happy and what they can do for you/ to you (emotional, mentally, physically). sometimes it may be the same as an obsession.....
